I've seen that "10 things I assume you know about me" meme going around. I don't really assume that you know these things, but you might want to.
1. I talk about a lot of different fandoms -- whatever catches my eye, basically -- but as a writer I'm monofannish except for crossovers. The crossovers might not include my main fandom, but I find it easier to write a crossover in two new universes than a single-fandom story. I am a giant crossover junkie.
2. I've been in fandom, off and on, since I was a teenager. I have been to MediaWest.
3. I friends-lock most things which have to do with my personal life or my career; but because there are people on my "reading list" who I don't really feel I know, I tend to use a lot of posting filters. I don't automatically friend people back unless they comment in my lj a bit and I feel like I'm getting to know them.
4. I teach Classics for a living, and consider myself lucky to be able to do so, even though I complain about undergraduates and TAs and grading and all that sort of thing.
5. I am married.
6. I still like Alias in a thoroughly non-ironic way.
7. I have OTCs rather than OTPs (one true character, rather than one true pairing). Alex Krycek is my One True Character, forever and ever, amen.
8. You know, I know I had an 8 when I started this... Oh. OK, people. I will probably never again be as funny as I was in that "Cicero and Pompey are BNFs" thing. I really wish I could be, but I doubt I can ever reach that level of comic genius again.
9. Although I live in Canada and the UK, I'm a US citizens. This gives me an extremely low tolerance for criticism of the US and its policies by non-US citizens. Left to my own devices, I am likely to assume that you're insulting me, and respond rudely. If you live in an EU or Commonwealth country, I might know enough about your domestic politics to score a point, although there's no guarantee of that. Anyway, this only leads to sorrow and occassional embarrassment for me, so perhaps we should leave it at that.
10. For this and other reasons, I generally don't discuss politics in this journal. I do sometimes talk about religion, but only under a cut-tag.
But if you don't read this list, or forget it immediately, I don't think your enjoyment of this journal will suffer.
