Heath Ledger found dead whathafuck? Edit: Okay, didn't realize he was important enough to stall the entire internet. Was not a fan of the actor, but looked forward -and still am- to viewing The Dark Knight. I expected this movie to make me a fan of him -and still do- when the other few films I've seen starring Ledger didn't.. Still, felt sympathy goes toward the little girl he left behind. I don't understand why on earth some folks might feel weird about watching TDK due to Ledger's death.? But... *shrugs*... most of my favorite actors are the dead ones.
Oh, and Oscar noms - calling them out right now.
Performance by an actor in a leading role
George Clooney in "Michael Clayton" - just because I don't like him.
Daniel Day-Lewis in "There Will Be Blood" - If the Academy is predictable, winner. Good movie though.
Johnny Depp in "Sweeney Todd The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" - underdog. Which makes me root for him.
Tommy Lee Jones in "In the Valley of Elah" - I love Tommy, but I'm thinking no.
Viggo Mortensen in "Eastern Promises" - contender from the corner.
Performance by an actor in a supporting role
Casey Affleck in "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford" - Don't. Think. So.
Javier Bardem in "No Country for Old Men" - winner. I loved this movie.
Philip Seymour Hoffman in "Charlie Wilson's War" - tired of seeing him.
Hal Holbrook in "Into the Wild" - haven't seen this one. Unknown.
Tom Wilkinson in "Michael Clayton" - this man deserves an Oscar by now.
Performance by an actress in a leading role
Cate Blanchett in "Elizabeth: The Golden Age" - are you fucking kidding me? As much as I love this actress, this genre, this historical period and this subject - folks, this movie sucked.
Julie Christie in "Away from Her" - haven't seen it, but she's the oldie.
Marion Cotillard in "La Vie en Rose" - winner.
Laura Linney in "The Savages" - maaaaybe. She's seriously overdue for one.
Ellen Page in "Juno" - cute, but not a chance. Curious though, I wish I could see Kitty Pryde knocked up for just a second.
Performance by an actress in a supporting role
Cate Blanchett in "I'm Not There" - nope, I'm thinking shut out.
Ruby Dee in "American Gangster" - she's an legendary old-timer. Maybe.
Saoirse Ronan in "Atonement" (Focus Features)
Amy Ryan in "Gone Baby Gone" - winner if the Academy is smart.
Tilda Swinton in "Michael Clayton" - I confess that I haven't seen this movie. GEORGE BAD.
