I won't deny your post made me start crying. Right now I'm passing through that phase you said you would spend long nights thinking about what would you do without your parents... I felt sad for the fact that you miss hugging your father so much, and reading about your father made me remember mine. And also made me remember some other things: personal problems still unsolved; my love for my parents; my fear of death; my incapacity of letting them go. (Because yes, I have to accept the fact that some day they will be gone, and I don't want to wait that long to change and show them how much I love them...)
But... I can't say I'm all sad by your words. I mean, this text you wrote... is not only beautiful, but also... gentle and inspiring. Your father surely was a wonderful person; he'll always stay with you and your family. And no, you were never "empty", my dear. Nor will you ever be. :)
You are one of the most amazing human beings I've ever met. And I want to have this strength, this resilience, just like you.
You are different now. And I'm pretty sure, from now on, you'll use those lessons your father taught you, and with them create a better life, a better understanding of yourself, and go on.
