Beckett! I ought to read more of that guy--I looooooved Waiting for Godot. To a ridiculous extent. And then I went and read Endgame and found it so. very. depressing. It could plunge Pollyanna into the blackest despair. And I haven't read any Beckett since. If you liked Beckett, though, I would very strongly recommend Aaron Petrovich's The Session. One of my favorite books ever--and the reason I picked it up was that on the cover some guy said "Petrovich is Beckett's organ." A strange testimonial that may seem, but it makes more sense in light of the book. Detectives Smith and Smith attempt to solve the murder of the Mathematician, whose organs were ripped out and stolen by a crowd who went mad attending his lecture on Essencism. :x
Hurrah! Joyce! I...am never going to be rid of Joyce. I love Ulysses. I will also be haunted by it until my death, like so many others. Oh well. Rock on, Telemachiad especially. my crush on Stephen Dedalus will never die; that dorkface. Remember your epiphanies on green oval leaves, deeply deep, copies to be sent if you died to all the great libraries of the world, including Alexandria? asldkjaslkdjaslkdj ♥♥♥
...Have you ever sat under a grand piano while someone accomplished is playing it? Or even someone vaguely accomplished? --the vibrations!-- ...My fantasies are kind of...odd, aren't they...?
I started with Endgame, and yes, it sort of sucked out my soul. And then stomped on it for a while. With stilettos. Do read more Beckett! His trilogy (Molloy, Malone Dies, and The Unnamable) is pretty damn spectacular.
