it was just another sunny (cold!) morning at Marlboro! Thank you very much shadows+windows = perfect unison, I could never get that down in dance class even when I thought it made sense for me to dance. Windows facing...er...
South?
South!
Damn this lack of landmarks. South Road runs east-west and I have to orient myself by imagining a bridge to New Hampshire I can't see from here. Oh, what. :| OK, so, hello? Good morning! I hope yours was all right; I spent mine reading Rice Boy instead of Sappho and this is not a decision that I regret at all. Anyone who hasn't read Rice Boy has suffered a tragic deprivation, whereas reading Sappho--while interesting--isn't going to change anything for anyone, or elicit any response greater than "hmmm" or "hmm?" or the occasional "ah! ♥ that's rather elegant that is". Um, this makes me a wretched classicist. I'm going to the crows.
But I also think that I'm right.
(Further irreverence: have concluded along with several friends that what the field of Classics really needs is some classical Mad Libs (prompted by the fill-in-the-blanks nature of Sappho texts retrieved from dilapidated papyri). "[name of god] was in the secluded grove west of [famous mountain], entangled in the [adjective] limbs of [your favorite nymph], just after [stock flowery phrase for dawn].")
...go read Rice Boy. It is right here:
And you ought to read all of it. I have a mad crush on The One Electronic, which, given my tastes, is entirely unsurprising.
What to say? I'm feeling sort of detached. Not in a bad way. Memorizing lines & trying to remember how to tell stories properly & watching Deep Space Nine with Carolyn (♥!) & missing
bellarabesques &
lucedes quite sorely. Wishing you were here! I'm not sure what to make of me or you, us being peculiar materials, but I never felt as if I had to start drawing up blueprints back then. Sigh. :( Now it's all plans or Plans or god knows what else. I still say, better a hundred half-presents than hauling around a whole future. How do I fit the past in there? Well, if my calculations make any damn sense, I guess all pasts were presents once but never had future-shapes!
Maybe I will go write something?
But first, an icon meme from
exequial~
❶ Comment to this entry saying 'ICONS!' and I will pick 6 of your icons.
❷ Make an entry in your own journal and talk about the icons I picked!
This is one of my all-time favorite Kurogane expressions of all time--I don't know where the text's from, but it's a phrase with several meanings that I wish to express (at different times) wholeheartedly. As does Kurogane, I'm sure.
...Anyone watch PGSM besides me and
kmegumi2? ...anyone? ...'kay...Anyone who knows the series would know that this is not a Minako-esque sentiment, though one that would be much appreciated by all. This is a good "OK, that's enough, angstypants" icon. "Lighten up, Aeneas." Etc.
IIIII am the Church of the Third Revelation!
Because nothing says 'profound blasphemy' like juxtapositions of Christianity with Kamui from x/1999. Oh, hell, I really liked this picture. ♥ And he's a god/savior figure of the highest order but absolutely nobody in X ever treated him as sacred except for not-Fuuma in his creepy way...This reminds me, CLAMP seems pretty much to have ditched the whole X cast in Tsubasa, so let's go burn their houses down, 'k?
I'm not even a fan of Ryoma or of Prince of Tennis (though I do think a certain song by Pansy Division ought to be its anthem). But this is the way I want to play tennis if I ever pick up a racket again.
Gaudy pear coffee mug of psychopathic pwnage. Need I say more? Zachary Quinto has a marvellous smirk.
♥ E.
P.S.
supergabbie, call me sometime. I'll tell you how awesome you are until you believe me as you should.
P.P.S. here's some things you ought to listen to.
the flaming lips - convinced of the hex. [she says I like your theory/but it won't pass no tests/watching the watcher/get shot in his chest]
chanticleer - la vasija de barro. [clay fired and hard/soul of green meadows/light and blood of my men/sun of my ancestry]
fleet foxes - isles. [silver the shores of isles I've known/boulevards of dancing boats/you keep the old ember burning]
