General concensus seems to be that I should write more, and that *gasp* people will actually read it. Ok, can do! I'll try to even make the posts interesting!

In the general sense of summing up life, things are going well. I'm on the job hunt again, though, as my retail seasonal garden center chaos job ran its course. I knew it would end around now, and actually it was dragged out a bit longer than last year, which was good. More pay, hooray. I can't say I'm sad that it's over now that we're having this heatwave, though, as the job entailed doing stuff outside in a cement box, essentially. I can only imagine how many dead, non-watered plants there are these days.

I think I'm going to be vending a faire in Harmony, NJ on August 27th & 28th, but Scott and I have to see if we can switch around some vacation plans we made first. (I'm dumb and forgot to check dates.) I can't commit to the faire for certain until then, but I'm hoping I can swing it. I really enjoy vending-- I like getting to be involved in a Renaissance Faire without working for the faire, if that makes sense. And no one bosses me around when it's my very own booth! Hopefully, if it pans out, the candles will sell well. The last one I vended was bad for profit, though that crazy glass chaos happened, so that was cool, at least.

Horse stuff progresses. I had a saddle on trial, but I'm returning it on Saturday. It was a Duett Allegro, double-wide tree, I believe. Sit Sarge decently well though I would have needed the flocking adjusted. However, I felt like I was super unbalanced in the saddle. I'm thinking maybe it wasn't deep enough? Or the seat was too big. In either case, I struggle to remain in the right position when I ride in it.
I'm trying to find a fitter to have out, but it's harder than I thought it would be to find one who a) will have wide saddles b) doesn't just cater to one brand and c) doesn't charge hundreds of dollars just to come out. There's one that was highly recommended by 2 people to me, but she's up in NY and it's going to be around $150 just to get her out. When you're about to put down somewhere around $1000 (probably) for a saddle, and after your filly cost you $8000+ in vet bills, that $150 is hard to want to part with.
I almost wonder if I should take a look at what the shops around me have on consignment, and see if there's anything wide I can take on trial. I know basically what to look for in fit from reading a really good book on saddle fitting, but I'm no fitter. I guess, though, if I took that route, I could then have someone more knowledgeable assess the fit. Still, I guess it's easiest just to have a fitter out in the first place? Hmm. I got some recommendations on the Equestrian community, and I'm still following a few of those up, at least.

Got a lesson tonight... hoping it cools down a bit more by 8pm, when I ride. Need to remember to bring water...
