New Camera!

My D700 came in today. This is the first camera I wasn't truly excited about because I'm not buying it for features. Rather, I'm buying it for economics. I need to sell my D200 immediately if I'm going to get any significant sum for it since the D300s was just announced and is starting to ship. People will buy the D300s (which is essentially a replacement for the D300, which replaced the D200), and sell their D200 and D300 cameras, saturating the market. Hopefully I'm not too late.

Anyway, the D700 does have a nice feature in that it is a full-frame dSLR, which translates to awesome quality in low-light and the capability for very shallow depth of field. Here's a handheld shot I took with my 50mm f/1.4 lens, wide open. Surprisingly, I nailed the focus on the first exposure.

In other news, just got a call back from the doc. He agreed with my diagnosis of Strep and prescribed exactly what I had been taking. I love this guy. Great doctor because he listens and doesn't treat his patients like idiots, which unfortunately I can't say about the other doctors at his practice.. It's really wonderful that I can call, tell him what I think I have and why, and he'll call in the prescription, especially given how much I travel. I'm sure it helps that I truly do my diligence in research and use the doctor lingity dingity.
