for me it depends more on your type of hair than anything else. personally my hair works just as well as with a cheaper iron, but i know people with hard to straighten hair usually find better results with a chi. but at the same time i don't use it on a regular basis either. i'm honestly not sure if there is a difference in the damage it produces, and for me that would be a big consideration for different irons.

This surprises you, how? Remember that we're discussing the only guy we both know who is quite possibly more metro than me. :p

LOLwut?

Dude, I don't even own a hairdryer.

Actually...I could kind of use one of those. Anybody got a spare?

I'm so envious that you don't need to dry/straighten your hair. I could have sworn you at least blow-dried it.

Even the Emo-hair is just air-dried, I'm afraid.

Straight as a board, and twice as boring.

I have a Corioliss (rivals the Chi, from all I read) that I got new on eBay for ~$30-- they retail for $100+. It works *so* much better than the cheaper brands I've tried. Love it!

I will have to look into this. I mean, anything pertaining to the Coriolis Effect must be awesome!

If only they had not marred the spelling with that extra 's'. Egads! Think of the marketing potential! "Want to turn heads? You need extra velocity! Get the Coriolis Effect."

Pardon my asking, but what do you use a flat iron for? I thought you had to have long hair? Or am I thinking of the wrong kind of iron?

I used to have longer hair, but I still use it to tame my hair, otherwise I have asymmetric waves where I don't want them...

See, and here I thought you used flatirons for the same reason I used to, for pinning the corner of a photograph to the matting board via the melty glue paper. XD

hah
I've only ever done that with a tacking iron!
And I certainly wouldn't do it with a $100 Chi!
