Aquariums, Hiking, and Austin

Last Wednesday I had a fabulous time at the Dallas World Aquarium with eyeawry. The majority of the zoo was a rain forest, which reminded me very much of a scaled down version of Moody Gardens in Galveston. I was very impressed with the quality of DWA. Everything was clean, well organized, odors were controlled exceptionally well, and they had the wonderful touch-screen kiosks to learn more about the animals. eyeawry put me to shame with her impressive knowledge of zoology.

On Thursday, I went with mom to the Cedar Ridge Preserve, about half an hour south of Dallas. We hiked about five miles up and down the trails on the hills, playing "I Spy" looking for wildlife. Sadly, there wasn't a lot of animals out - not even birds. It was perfect weather and great to get out of Dallas.

Now, I'm 192 miles south of Dallas in Austin visiting the dorky yet lovable dorkyturtle for the weekend. My first thought when I saw that number was that it's 11000000 in binary, or 2^8-2^6! Plans include having her be my surrogate girlfriend and hitting up the mall, visiting landmarks in the area and taking the photoz, experiencing 6th street for the first time, and going to a bondage birthday party. (Don't ask - I don't know... but I'll post photos!). It's really windy and hilly here today. I suppose it's hilly here every day, but I can only attest for the time being.

daily, adventures, friends
