in a continuing effort to alter homeostatic conditions and reinforce patterns of neuronal activation within my hippocampus, i've decided that i'm going to learn to play the piano. it honestly doesn't look that hard, and i think i can pick it up quickly, given that i have a brain-the-size-of-a-solar-system.
however, i know nothing about pianos, other than that they are heavy and
frequently get dropped for comedic value.
this is where you come in. WHERE DO I START?
i'm thinking Piano for Dummies, as those books have never steered me wrong in the past. or is a website just as good nowadays? maybe
http://www.gopiano.com or
http://learnpianoonline.com and i suppose i'll need a piano of some kind. i'm guessing the Fisher Price one that i had as a toddler probably won't do. as much as i'd like a yamaha pf1000 with an 88-key graded-hammer-effect keyboard, 128-note polyphony, and 16-track sequencer, i don't know what the hell any of that is.
so maybe something like the
yamaha dgx203. again, i don't know what i'm buying. how many keys do i really need?? 88 keys?? I ONLY HAVE 10 FINGERS!
if i knew it'd be a life-long passion, i'd go ahead and invest in a full-size hammer-action keyboard, but right now i'd just like a tool to get me started in learning to play
Hop Skip and a Jump and Schoolyard Dance.
anyway, your thoughts and comments are appreciated!
