desk pen follies

The gorgeous Wahl desk pen with its ultra-mega-gorgeous nib was perhaps not quite so recently resacked as the seller claimed. It began to give me an inky finger so I rolled up a bit of tissue and pushed it into the tulip and, alas, struck ink. I rinsed the pen and put it away and brought out my trusty Sheaffer, lacking in gorgeousness but a nice writer. I just bought some Sheaffer Gray at the weekend so I filled it with that instead of the Black Cherry ink from Private Reserve that I usually use. The gray is really a lovely shade but it's not quite wet enough for the pen.

My eBay find arrived--an old Waterman's with a green keyhole nib. The nib and body are in great shape. The cap is a filthy encrusted Wearever leftover. I have to decide whether to sell off the nib or try to find a cap and bring the pen back to life. I don't need another pen, really. I could use the money, really. But what's a hobby for, really!
