hmm..today was a splendid day ! I woke up from a dream that I was being stalked by Jim Carry like on The Cable Guy...it was the worst dream I've had in a while. I talked to Justin before he went off to Austin. Then fell back to sleep and woke up at 12 PM. I went to my drum lesson @ 3:30 and that went really good...I managed to do everything correctly. Me and my teacher talked about tom stands and options I had in making my toms low enough for me. I thought I'd have to buy the whole shabang, but I had my toms and my tom mount in the car so he went out there w/ me after my lesson and told me that all I really needed was a heavy duty double-braced cymbal stand and I'd be set to go. After that I went to Guitar Center and a really cool drummer helped me out, first person who actually knew a ton about drums that has helped me out there. I told him I needed my 13" & 14" tom a little below my 24" bass drum. He asked me what kind of kit I owned and how long I've been playing. I told him I had a 1981 Yamaha 9000DA series drum kit, and he went on about how cool those drums were when they were being manufactured. Also told him I've been playing almost 6 months. He helped me out and I got a cymbal stand good enough to hold my massive drums. I went there w/ $85 thinking I wouldn't even have enough for what I needed, but the cymbal stand was only $30, so I also got a cowbell (w00t) and a gibraltar cowbell mount for a kick drum. I spent $84.40. so I didn't even go over and my kit looks frigliggntastic now. Afterwards I played w/ all the electronic drums...Yamaha ones were still the best in my opinion. After that I went home and cleaned my drums and cleaned the kitchen, then got to work on arranging my setup. Finished at about 9 PM, and had fun actually being able to DO fills because the toms were finally low enough (yay).
