BRB COMING TO PUNCH NAOYA IN THE FACE. right after I finish Philip's American Novel of a tag. keyword_bingo September 17 2010, 00:35:01 UTC
[The SFC slid from his fingers onto the leather couch with a soft thud, Philip´s mind already racing, his eyes flicking from side to side as he thought. Shoutarou? Could this man have-- No, Shoutarou was strong. And the belt had not appeared. Clearly there had been no danger--

No, that was a dangerous assumption. This criminal was dangerous, unpredictable. There was nothing to say he had not attacked Shoutarou from behind. Besides, Shoutarou was too kind, too halfboiled. It would've been easy to lure him into a false sense of peace and then--

Aki-chan? Terui Ryuu? They had left together, had they not? Accel could protect Aki-chan. It seemed Accel even had unlocked some new powers. A good thing, he suspected, but new variables that threw of his calculations. Could this person have captured the three of them already? Or was it just Shoutarou he was threatening?

Philip shook his head. No, he had to think. Didn't have time to think. Couldn't rush in recklessly. Had to rush in recklessly. Fang's soft growl onto barely registered, though the presence of the little mecha was already calculated into his... no, couldn't call them plans. He'd make up the plans when he got there. He had to get Shoutarou back. Had to.

Philip scrambled up, pausing for just a split second to shove the SFC into a pocket of his vest --be prepared, be prepared-- before he was off, out of the door, Fang speeding up to catch up with him.]

NAOYA!

he deserves whatever punches he gets. I ASSUME HE'S GOING ON THEIR 'BADGUY' LIST? first_scorned September 19 2010, 08:38:54 UTC
[ This was precisely the result he'd been anticipating; the sort of reaction he'd hoped for. Moreover, exactly what he'd expected. ... Philip was playing exactly into his hands. Naoya was rather pleased with the effect his message had had on the boy--after all, this showed he wasn't as unshakable as he'd tried to make himself look. Even better; he WAS human, after all. So he had deep ties to the others... ties enough to recklessly rush out without even a moment to think of what he would do?

Yes, this proved what he'd thought nicely. From where he was watching, he could see Philip leave in a hurry. He would take his time and let the boy panic a bit before he actually answered. Opting not to descend from where he was, he simply followed him as he ran, waiting for the right moment, until he had stopped to shout his name. It was THEN he came down and, through the darkness with only a single, loud echo from his geta, Naoya was behind the boy already.

... He'd taken precautions in regards to every form of magic or physical attack; if anything hit him at this point, it would have no effect. Stepping out of the shadows, his red eyes the only thing illuminated by the low light penetrating the dome above them, he finally answered: ]

My, my... don't you look distressed this evening.

[ His dark smirk stays where it is. This is nothing but amusing to him. ]

They will make a third list: 'Good guys', 'Bad Guys', & 'Naoya'. keyword_bingo September 19 2010, 12:48:25 UTC
[Philip came an abrupt halt at the sound of his voice, turning around sharply to face him. And if his normal expression was one of almost bored indifference, his current one couldn't be further from it; his eyes were blazing with anger he could barely contain, his brows drawn above them. His voice was still civil, however. Almost polite even. He had never been one for cursing, no matter how angry he got.]

Return Shoutarou to me.

Which is pretty fitting, considering I'm not even sure how to classify him. :'D first_scorned September 21 2010, 01:12:25 UTC
Oh? And of what particular importance is Hidari-san to you?

[ When Naoya uses honorifics, somehow, it seems less than polite. As though he's mocking someone; as though it's unnatural. Which it is. He doesn't try to hide his amusement at Philip's current expression, not in the least. But then, he was dealing with someone who always wore the same amused, enigmatic expression almost always.

Naturally, he wouldn't implicate himself in this. No, Naoya knew he had to be careful with this sort of thing. No, he wouldn't outright lie--after all, he almost never lied outright. He preferred to skim around the entire truth. There's no harm in omitting what hasn't been asked of him, is there not?

... After all, Philip hadn't asked Naoya a question, and he had made a statement. Therefore, he felt it perfectly fine to answer with a few questions back. As it was, the 'young' man remained where he stood, looking almost at ease, and seemed almost as though he were defenseless. Of course, this was far from the truth. ]

I wonder... you say you can protect yourself alone? Can you?

Hidari Shoutarou is my one and only partner. If he is in your possession, you will return him to me.

[Philip calmly held Naoya's eyes. He recognized the danger in them, certainly. He knew Naoya was a very dangerous man, perhaps as dangerous as the man they were hunting, the one that had caused all of Fuuto's tears; however he could not back down; not when Naoya held the one thing he held dearest in his hands: the lives of his partner and family.

At Naoya's question, his eyes flicked for a moment, dismissively. Philip rarely lied as well. It was not something he did, perhaps in part due to the fact that he felt no need to lie to his family. Holding back certain information however... just because he knew, there was no need to share it with everybody.]

I did not come here to answer questions. If you had wanted to ask me questions, you shouldn't have touched my partner.

You seem irritated. I thought you could take care of yourself...? ... Of course, how could I forget: you believe a toy can defend you.

[ Naoya's mouth stayed curled into a snakelike grin, but whatever his plans were behind it was hard to say. ]

... Didn't I tell you to watch yourself, boy? I told you I did not forget a voice. I never forget.

[ He chuckles, clearly amused. ] The problem with children is that all of you share the same critical weakness... you just don't seem to learn from a mistake unless it hits you in the face. Rather sad, if you ask me.

... Well. You want to do something? I'm right here, aren't I? Let's see what you think you can do.

HAHA. WATCH ME TAG. Finally. keyword_bingo September 26 2010, 13:10:23 UTC
[Philip carefully steadied his breathing, trying to suppress what impulses he was feeling. He had to get Shoutarou back, safe and sound. Losing his temper, rushing in unprepared would not help that.

Maybe if he could keep this man talking he could find out some clues as to Shoutarou's location-- whether Shoutarou was captured or not in the first place. Luckily, Naoya seemed quite keen on the sound of his own voice. He'd just have to keep him talking for long enough.]

Does it not tire you, constantly making such rash judgements? Calling Fang a toy... it is clear you do not know how strong this memory is.

[Wouldn't know unless Philip could manage to transform. He needed-- He needed a way to contact Shoutarou. There was a chance Naoya had captured him but had not taken away his belt. After all, he only considered them toys, right? Or perhaps he was not captured at all. Naoya had been very careful to cut off their regular means of contact, hadn't he? Perhaps Philip would have to get creative in that case.

He should show him what 'toys' could do.

Sliding one hand into his vest pocket, he closed his fingers around the one gadget Shoutarou rarely carried with him. The small Frog Pod fitted snugly between his fingers, his thumb on the recording button.]

Childish? Aren't you the one being childish here? Kidnapping [record] Shoutarou [end record] to force me into talking to you... it almost sounds like throwing a tantrum. You have [record] transformed [end record] what could´ve been a simple, calm conversation into this stand-off. And for what purpose? [record] Now [end record] I am almost left wondering if you are afraid to meet me on equal ground.

[That message would have to do, he decided, quickly switching the small device over into live mode. He couldn't risk Naoya finding out what he was attempting to do. Instead it would be better to bait him while the small frog crawled out of his pocket, hopping off towards its second owner. Perhaps he could draw Naoya into another long rant about how childish he was in the mean time. Every minute he talked was a minute the Frog Pod had to get to Shoutarou.]

[ooc: just as a note, the Frog Pod is one of Double's memory gadgets. All it does it record and do voice analysis/changes. It has a record mode for recording and a live mode for... bounding around happily apparently. And now it is bouncing off happily to its other daddy.

it is also shaped like a frog. I know. Thrilling.]

[1/2] I'M SORRY ABOUT THIS D8 I CAN FIX IT IF YOU WANT first_scorned September 29 2010, 08:53:25 UTC
[ Naoya extends his left leg, his foot firmly planted on the stone as the geta slides along the ground, bracing himself for what he was about to do: using a small amount of force magic--the very essence of the life around them--the man lands in the path of the little frog, directly in front of it. It takes him not a moment before he proceeds to put his geta over it, catching the gadget under his shoe, and leaving it there, never once losing his balance the entire time. ... But he does not crush it; simply incapacitates it. What he doesn't isn't all that showy--a small draft of ancient, arcane, green energy briefly to propel him that goes by in the blink of an eye, with no noticeable source or reaction before he even does it.

And so, he picks the small frog up, making a 'tsk' noise once or twice as it attempts to move around and escape his grasp, tilting his head, but nothing more. ... Nothing escaped his vision; nothing was miscalculated when it came to his plans. He had expected something like this.

This child... did he really think he could fool him with such a mundane trick? Naoya was a programmer and hacker by trade; sending messages and building things was what he did best. The other thing that he had done for millennia now was watch humanity--he was certainly no fool. He had seen nearly every trick in the proverbial book, after all. ]

... I'm disappointed, Philip.

[ Though way he says the other's name is in absolutely flawless English. The Japanese accent that might accompany such, normally, is entirely gone. ]

And I never make rash judgments. Unlike your friends, I have no need to let emotions cloud my decisions. You may be intelligent, but you are still far too young to comprehend what it is you're dealing with.

[ He directs his gaze back to Philip, giving the frog a semi-interested look. ]

... Though I must say, these little gadgets of yours ARE well-built... but that is all they are. And I should mention that if you try anything else, it would be a waste of time.

[ And he smirks as he contains the frog in a barrier--invisible entirely, of course. It wouldn't be going anywhere anytime soon. ] Now, why don't we have a little chat about that ability of yours, hmm? ... Actually, go ahead and look me up right now. Go on. Enter my name. I'm not going to do anything to you while you're in that state... I really couldn't care less what you find, because I can guarantee you're not going to find anything of use.

[ ooc; AGAIN SORRY IF THIS IS GODMODDING B-BUT NAOYA IS SORTA A META JERKWAD :[ A-also assuming cross-universe stuff works here in Vat in this instance for idk plot advancement or he's letting you or something, Philip will probably only find Naoya's -current- reincarnated info: Born 1985, Blood type A, parents died in a car crash at an early age, so he went to live with his relatives, then grew up with his baby cousin (younger by 7 years) and lived with them until a few years ago when he got a job as a programmer with a decent company [insert pseudo-name for the Shomonkai here I can't be arsed to come up with], moved to Aoyama in an apartment, and everything abruptly ends once you get to April, 2009.

... How strange. Not only that, but it seems the names of certain people do not appear to exist in Naoya's book. Have fun with that. For NOW, you will only find one white book. For now. :D ]

[Philip narrows his eyes at him, at the small frog caught in the barrier, before he takes a step back, extending his arm in a wide, sweeping gesture. An odd stillness extends over him as he synchronizes his mind with the library, speaking the words partially through force of habit, and partially to show Naoya what he can do.]

Look-up start. The goal of the look-up is finding out the personal information of the person known as 'Naoya'.

[The books moved around him, bookshelves falling and rising as they filtered through the endless amount of information, discarding that which did not fit the search parameters, until finally one book remained.

White. Thin. Almost elegant.

Philip took it from the open air in front of him, opening it to read it. His voice was even as he spoke aloud, his eyes unfocused]

Naoya. Born [date] 1985; bloodtype A; lived with his relatives from age [#years] after his parents [mother's name] and [father's name] died in a car crash.

[More information follow. Not everything, of course, because reading aloud the sheer amount of absolutely useless information would take far too long, but Philip took his time to read the more prominent information about Naoya's childhood, down to his high school grade lists.

Then with a flick of the eyelids, he disengaged from the library, focusing on the man in front of him again.]

Some of the information was left blank purposely. I normally cannot look up anyone not from my world, so I can only assume you must have let me see this.

It's okay. I think mine did too. ... For now. /o/; first_scorned October 6 2010, 22:16:37 UTC
That's because if your library contained everything about me, child, it would take you a lifetime to read it. Probably too long. The boring parts are rather inconsequential, anyway.

[ And he laughs, so very amused. ]

Perhaps two lifetimes. But I think I've gotten what I wanted here... I know how your ability works now. Now, next time, be a good child and don't go around threatening the wrong people.

[ Hi, Philip. This is a Ziodyne lightning bolt right next to the spot you're standing in. ]

... Of course some things had been left blank. If I had told you EVERYTHING, even just for THIS lifetime... well, that would have been quite a pain, even for me. It's a bit hard to keep track of that many years.

[ Oh yes, you are hearing many inconsistencies here, Philip. Very. Many. ]

They are always there. Lurking. Waiting. keyword_bingo October 6 2010, 22:28:00 UTC
[Philip took a step back at the crackle of lighting, recoiling at the unpleasant, sharp crackle in the air. It was like that man, that monster, but Naoya did not have a Gaia Memory, did he? Philip was certain only people from their world had them.

Smoothing over the way his heart thudded a little too anxiously, he stared at Naoya, meeting his eyes.]

I think you'll find I can read quicker than you expect me to. Reading up on one person's lifetime... it is quite easy for me. I've done it quite often.

Now that I've satisfied your curiosity somewhat, perhaps you can explain to me how you did that. What powers do you have?

Reply

... Of course this being Naoya, it won't last long. :/ Also YAY SPOILERS first_scorned October 6 2010, 23:20:17 UTC
[ Naoya's red eyes... something about them was unsettling and deep. Deeper than usual; like staring into an endlessly ancient chasm. ]

You're a smart boy... but still quite naive. I don't think you could read a few thousand years at once.

[ By this point, those eyes seem almost insane. But not quite; just enough to hold it all together. His dark expression remains and he smirks, geta clacking as he gets uncomfortably close. ]

No, it would take far too long. Believe me, child, you may be a quick study, but I don't think even you could decode that. I wonder, can you really hide your fear...?

[ ... And his smile remains. Oh no Philip, he's not explaining that. ] ... Now why would I want to do that? Oh, but I suppose it's only fair I give you a hint, isn't it? I am human, after all. Mortal, one hundred percent... surprisingly, people seem to think that it requires inhuman abilities to harness the same magic of demons.

Naoya touches himself at night to the thoughts of TL/DR keyword_bingo October 6 2010, 23:30:23 UTC
[He stands his ground, his expression as calm as he can keep it with Naoya nearing, stalking closer like a cat, and the uncertainty over Shoutarou's fate still tugging at his mind.]

I was not expecting you to be anything but human. Powers like that... I've seen them before. However knowing that you do not have a Gaia memory at your disposal, I was curious how you got them.

But demons you say? Occultism then. I was not under the impression that that worked.

[As much as he called himself a demon at times, he did not really believe in their existence.]

Reply

... Probably. --Oh look they're back. :|; first_scorned October 7 2010, 01:13:31 UTC
Occultism...? Hahahah... no, boy. It's not mere "occultism". Demons exist, as do angels. And all ones needs is a medium through which to summon them...

[ Like the strong emotions of the internet, say. He smirks, getting too close for comfort. ]

... I have said before memory is a powerful thing. Far greater than any form of magic or weapon, the human mind is capable of remembering quite a bit. You see, in our case, it's not so different. It's simply how we got the knowledge we have of the entire world. You see, I've lived everything long enough to know that no matter how many times you die, some things remain the same.

And memory... is one of them. The other strength would be emotion. Tell me, have you ever been scared...?

[ He laughs, quietly, red eyes and tall frame over Philip, daunting. Frightening. Maddened. Someone who is chaotic and somehow holds the tempest together. And he says three words: "Akuma Shoukan Program." Demon Summoning Program. He decides this time he will let Philip truly look him up, sans everything relating to how the COMPs and the programs involved work. ]

... I warned you that the information contained would take far too long. Perhaps you ought to start at the beginning--if you have so many books, go pick up Genesis. The Old Testament. Specifically... "Cain" and "Abel". I am quite sure you will reach the conclusion you desire.

[It's odd to explain, but Philip can almost feel the shift inside the library, can feel the sudden added information he had now access to. And thought his heart pounds in his chest, he meets Naoya's eyes directly, not ready to shrink down in front of his man. No, betraying his fear might be the most dangerous thing to do in this kind of situation. And he has Shoutarou to think about.]

You must be very unique if you can influence my library.

[He mentally marks down the terms: 'Cain', 'Abel', 'Genesis'. Not entirely unfamiliar.]

Cain and Abel... The first born children of Adam and Eve in the Christian bible, correct?
