In any case, he doesn't seem to notice his now drenched clothing. No, he's just ( Read more... )

[He's fairly new himself; that's his excuse for walking over and tapping the man's shoulder, hiding his lower face in his collar awkwardly.]

Everything's free here; there's a cafe over there were you can get a towel...get out of the ducks. [A vague upward twitch of the lips.]

[He turns to the boy and nods absently. He's still not sure what to make of the ducks, but a fee cafe does sound nice....and duck free.] These blasted things are a bother.

...Don't you have an umbrella?

[An umbrella..? He's not sure what to make of that.] No. Why? [He's giving the man a patient look, trying to understand his rather...odd behavior. He reminded him a bit of that one business man addicted to Reaper Cr-]

[Okay, not going there.]

Well in a duck storm, it's always good to have proper protection. So an umbrella should do nicely, I would think.

Here, you can use mine for the time being. [He shoves his umbrella at Neku...and promptly gets hit in the head with a duck.]

[He restrains the snicker somehow, grinning as he shoves the umbrella back over the man's head, not in the slightest big concerned when a duck clips his arm.] I think you'd better keep it.

[Just kind of stands there.] Oh...well, if you insist. And it's not like I was being nice, I hope you know. I was just doing what...what a gentleman should.

...Right! Now, you said something about a cafe? I wonder if they have scones...

[He raises his brow, kind of amused by this man, but still-] I'm not a lady, so not offering me your umbrella is fine. Over there. [He points it out with a lazy flick of his wrist.] They have towels...and blankets.

Well lady or not it's the proper thing to do. [He looks down at his drenched clothes and nods.]

That's right, I should probably go dry myself. I wouldn't want to catch a cold or some other rubbish.

What a gentleman. [It shouldn't be amusing that the man's being selflessly chivalrous, except Neku can see its mostly forced and that's really no way to live at all.]

Yeah; stay out here much longer and you much catch your death. [...Lord, even that's funny, to an extent. It still gets the smile off his face.]

Of course. I am a gentleman. Very good of you to notice.

Oh, I nearly forgot--My name is England.

As in- the country, England? [He isn't too surprised; after all, didn't he meet the being who was effectively the Composer of his entire hometown?] It's an honor then, sir. Sorry about World War 2.

[Not really his problem now; its sixty years long before his time.]

Precisely. [He's just. Going to keep on looking pleased.] And there's no need to be so formal, that war was a long while ago.

If you say so, sir. [It doesn't hurt to remain respectful; this is a country, and that's much more than a city so he doesn't want to see what he can do if Neku pisses him off, even if he does seem like a complete scatter-brain.] Shall we? Get out of the ducks, I mean. I'd like to hear more about your country, if that's okay.

[What better way to broaden one's horizons than introspection from a country itself?

[Neku will soon discover, that when England is upset he either A) Complains. Or B) Will avoid the topic, and complain to someone else later. It's completely terrifying. Only not] Yes, they are a bother.

Now, I'll follow you to...wherever it is we're going. [And he gestures for Neku to lead the way, since...he seems to know where they're going.] Oh, and I'd be happy to tell you anything you'd like to know, of course. All you've got to do is ask.

[And lead he will, feeling rather grateful to Mr. H because this cafe is...well, the only place he knows in vatheon so far.] Thank you for the opportunity! [He's not so much of a history buff, so he knows very little about England. Still, hearing it from the countries perspective probably makes it even more interesting.]

[He leads the way, of course, but he'll let England go inside first. He'll try to sneak in whilst they're mummifying him with towels.]

[He steps in, asks for a towel...and gets three. Thought they're the big fluffy ones, so he's happy to have them. He then wanders over to find somewhere to sit.]

Oh yes, this should do nicely. [And all wrapped up in towels, he sits in a nice little corner by the window.]
