Nasuti Yagyu was too entranced with the giant body of coral in the middle of the plaza to really notice that she was soaking wet. At first she thought the chill she felt was one of wonder and ( Read more... )

Nasuti spotted the soft glow, and like an witless moth, started gravitating toward it. Her mind was numb, still taken aback from the sudden change of scenery. But then again, what was she supposed to do? It was against her nature to sit and wait for her to be found. She needed to get her bearings on where she'd ended up, and start devising a tactic to best ensure survival.

Typically this meant finding the Troopers and regrouping. But by the looks of things, she couldn't be certain they were even here.

The glow belonged to a cafe, which appeared to be the only thing open at this time of night. Was it some sort of izakaya? Not typically her scene, but if they were anything like the ones back home, they wouldn't be unsafe...

What was that sound? A dog?

Her train of thought screeches to a halt when the door opens and a red-headed man addresses her from up the street. "Oh--" Nasuti finally finds her voice, but she doesn't call back. The rest of the city seemed asleep, and she didn't want to make her first impression one of waking the town. She instead jogs up to the rode, and stops at the open doorway. She gives the man a depreciating smile and bows quickly. "Thank you so much. I hope it's not any trouble--"

"Hey, it's no problem." Shrugging, Lea just leans against the doorway, items still held out. Arden is still at his ankles, practically bouncing with the urge to just charge through and greet the stranger. "Phoenix Nest is open any time. But tonight it's just me. You wanna come in?"

He jerks his head towards the inside of the cafe. Although it seems a bit too lax to be much of a cafe, composed mostly of comfortable looking couches and armchairs and coffee tables. There are a few tables, but those are nearer to the back or outside.

"I'll make you something, if you want."

Nasuti's eyes divert to the items the man was holding, arms outstretched in her direction. She gave a polite, thankful nod, and took them. "Is that the name of this cafe?" She looked up a little bit, getting a careful glimpse of the establishment. Glancing over his shoulder, she observes that the interior looks inviting, and, for what it was worth, considerably warmer than the outdoors. She didn't hesitate any further for civility's sake, and stepped inside.

"You're too kind, sir. But I'm afraid I'm as broke as I am lost..." Even if she had her credit cards on her, the odds that this place shared the currency of from whence she came seemed slim, to say the very least...

Once she's inside, Arden is at her feet, making more little chirping noises and pawing at her ankles. Lea shooshes him, but doesn't really discourage the little guy. Not like there's a point anyway. The only one worse he could think of was Alex. "Well hey, let's just say we're friends now and I'll call it even." Chuckling, he fetches her a menu and hands it to her. Mostly it's baked goods and small sandwiches. Yet on the bottom, in bold letters, are the words 'Anything you want'.

Kind of makes the idea of a menu a moot point. The lack of any pricing doesn't help matters.

"Besides, unless you're in the Nostalgia Nook, money doesn't matter much here in Vatheon."

Nasuti returns the laugh with a bright smile and a chuckle. "Fair enough." She smiled down at the strange creature pawing at her feet, kneeling down to let it get a better look and sniff of her hand.

"Vatheon..." Nasuti repeated the words to conduct them to memory. "This is what you call this place?" She'll move on to the other questions later. Especially that 'Nostalgia Nook' term. That sounded...particularly dubious.

With another chirp, Arden begins to nuzzle her hand, sniffing in the scent. New person, new person, always something interesting! And lots of new people were coming in these days.

"Well, it's what the locals call it." Lea shrugs his shoulders lazily. "I just call it 'Vat' for short. The whole thing is kind of wild- how good are you at accepting the weird and seemingly impossible?"

"Oh, so you're not a local, then?" At the very least, he appeared to be well-settled. That was a bit encouraging, at least...

Her face went serious. "Try me. I've had my fair share of experience with the paranormal."

Okay. Deeeep breath and- "Vatheon is a weird city underwater in an ocean no one is familiar with and probably on a world no one knows the name of and which has the sucky tendency of reaching through both time and space to pluck random people- like you and me- into it for how knows what reasons." A relaxed smile. Jazz hands.

"And it only gets weirder from there."

Nasuti stared at the man for a short moment, wordlessly blinking as she took in what he had to say.

"...." She looked down at the towel she had wrapped around her shoulders. "Where did you come from, originally, then?"

Both time and space?
