It was so strange hearing that ringing in his ears again, to feel that subtle heat in the pocket where he always kept his armor orb. Shin almost didn't realize it at first, until he had to excuse himself from the Marauder Mansion to walk around. Then the ringing got louder, the heat more intense, and that's when Shin really knew what it was - he hadn't had to think with his Trooper helmet on in a long time. He'd given up any thoughts of his homeworld companions mysteriously showing up in Vatheon.

Yet here one of them was.

Shin rounded a corner, looking this way and that, until finally his eyes fell on Touma. He almost blended into the blues and greens of Vatheon, but there was no mistaking him after all they'd been through in such a short time. He called out in a raised voice he rarely used.

"HEEEY!" Waving, he jogged right towards his friend. "TOUMA!"

Blinking when he heard his name, Touma turned to see Shin coming towards him. He'd known there was someone nearby but it was good to know his senses hadn't been wrong. Pushing some of his hair away from his eyes so he could see, he gave him a nod of greeting.

"It's good to see you here, Shin." Though, he couldn't figure out why his friend wasn't as wet as he was. Then again, his friend could have arrived in another area that was drier. Not that Touma actually remembered how he got wet.

"Do you know what is happening here?" That was more important than asking where the others were. Shin was more likely to have information on this than on the location of their friends.

Now that Shin was closer, he noticed something odd -- Touma looked a lot more youthful than he remembered. Like with Sirius? But the reverse? Shin decided to leave that aside for the moment, but there was no hiding the thoughtful look on his face.

"It's hard to explain... This place is almost like another realm, apart from the Human Realm, apart from the Nether Realm, not even the Spirit Realm. Maybe it's part of all of them. Regardless," he gestured around, "the city is called Vatheon... and it's just us two here, of the Troopers. Everyone else you see is either a native, or a foreigner like us, but from somewhere else. Other planets, even!"

What Shin had to say seemed so very...science fiction. Not only that but he somehow seemed slightly older. Could that be the right word for it? Still, Touma decided to accept the information for the time being because he couldn't imagine Shin lying to him about something like this for any reason.

"So this is another realm called Vatheon and we ended up here alone. Is there a way to get back to where we come from? Get everyone back where they come from?" Because this seemed like some kind of trap to him.

He held out his hands, palms out toward Touma. "We'd never know if it's happened - if they ever got home, they never came back." Then he pointed to the sky. "There's been a way recently to get above the water's surface, but it seemed to make people act strangely, so I haven't tried going back."

That and falling into the coma that was also a possible means to 'return home,' albeit a very dangerous one to consider. His personal experience with watching over Sirius first, and now it happening to himself... he would be more than content if the whole affliction could be cured somehow.

Looking up at the sky, he frowned a bit. To him it was like a piece of himself had been taken away. Certainly there was a bit of sky here, air too. However it wasn't the same as the endless expanses that soared overhead and above the surface of the water. Touma didn't need to mention this though. He was sure it was understood without being said aloud.

"We're completely surrounded by water then. You probably thrive here."

"Not as much as you may think, actually." He stared up at the sky as well, but specifically at where the bubble met the water. "Yes, I can tell we're deep underwater, in some kind of open ocean, but I also can't reach that water either. The one time that the wall was breached, it was from the outside - by a cephalopod the size of Arago's fortress."

"It makes sense then that you would feel cut off from your element as well then." Reaching into his pocket for his hat, Touma paused and looked down at himself again. Oh right. He was soaking wet. Honestly he wasn't sure how he'd forgotten about something like that. Maybe just because he hadn't been thinking about it at all.

"Does this place have dry clothes?"

He smirked. "Of course. All you have to do is ask."

True to his word, Shin started walking towards the nearest clothing stall. Out of habit, he immediately switched to the British English he used with everyone in Vatheon - including his housemates.

"Excuse me - my friend here just arrived and could use some dry clothes in a similar style to what he's currently wearing. I could bring a snack by later - perhaps a kind of pasty?" Then he beckoned to Touma, switching again, even though he knew Touma could understand the whole conversation due to whatever means it worked in Vatheon. It was just his routine now. "Take a look around, see what you like."

Of course he had every intention of returning home and making a kind of dango or four, but 'pasty' worked just as well.

It was easy enough to follow after Shin but the more he watched him the more he realized that the other had been here longer than an instant arrival. Touma considered that and how he looked possibly older as well. All of it seemed unlikely but if he was going to trust that they were in Vatheon then the questions he had didn't seem so strange.

Looking at the clothes, he let them venture out into the open. Or at least one. There would be more to follow but this was a good beginning.

"Shin, how old are you?"

Leave it to Touma to cut right to the heart of an issue, no minced words. His face fell as he thought about the answer. "Well..." It had felt like summer back in Africa, yet closer to Spring as he looked back on the months. "I think approximately... eighteen and a half."

He looked over at Touma again, the apprehension finally starting to show. "That doesn't add up to you, does it?"

"By logical reasoning, you shouldn't be three and a half years older than the age I am aware of. So I think my next questions should be these: How old are you in our world and what is your last memory?"

It seemed like there was something going on with the timelines. Shin shouldn't be nearly nineteen years old.

Oh. And he kind of liked this shirt he was looking at here.

"I thought you looked younger, but that young..." He shook his head. "I've heard about it here and there, friends and acquaintances from the same world, yet things don't line up in everyone's stories. I never imagined it would happen to me - to us."

He crossed his arms over his chest. "Do you know anything about Africa?"

The funny thing was, Shin was actually hoping he didn't. Maybe this was a second chance after all - a way to understanding and accepting his decision without having to fight Touma on it all over again.

"It's a continent numerous countries found within it and is primarily known to the world for having vast grasslands." Which another way of saying that he had no idea where this question was coming from. Though he would love the answer.

Touma went to pull off his soaked shirt there so he could pull on the dry one. He'd go to a dressing room for the pants when he found them but the shirt wasn't a big deal to him. He was male so it wasn't as if he was revealing too much.

Shin let Touma change without disrupting the conversation.

"I'll take that as a 'no,' so... three years means..." Shin's eyes widened in realization; Touma wouldn't even know about New York, or Ryo's birthday party, and before that had been a year lull, much to Shin's delight at the time. "You know about Arago, naturally, but..." He was trying to be cautious; the entire Marauder Household was full of people who should never have met and some who should have died. "What do you remember about our battle with him?"

"We have defeated him for good this time. He has been completely eradicated and now that world is being rebuilt by Kayura and the others. As for us, we have gone on to live normal lives again."

Touma moved over to see about pants, seeing if there was something in his size. Jeans would be the preference, of course. He rather liked the more laid back style that came with it. Maybe he could get a hat too.

"I was studying back at my apartment."
