[A dark-haired man in a trench coat slides in a seat away from him. He nods to the dealer, and then looks over at Naoya, trying to size him up. He's not completely sure, but he's pretty sure this kid isn't yakuza - but he's still pretty calm, more so than most his age would be.]

[As for Otoha himself?]

Deal me in.

[ Naoya meets that glance -- and then gives the man a slight smile and wave before he peeks at the pair of cards he has been dealt. ]

[Definitely not. He'd either get a boast or a straight face, not a wave. He looks at his own cards, before tapping the table for a hit.]

[ Naoya taps the table twice before deciding to stop at four, unconcerned as he flips over his hand. ]

[He's managed to get a good hand this time. Nineteen. He flips it over, and waits.]

You don't see that many kids playing blackjack.

[ Twenty. Naoya takes the pot after the House busts, shrugging aimably. ]

Not many have the chance to play.

True.

[Damn. Next hand, maybe he can have better luck.]

So where did you learn?

At a casino's Blackjack machine.

[ So perhaps an illegal casino that may or may not have been run by yakuza and/or demons, but a casino all the same. ]

[... He gives him another look. This one is more of a 'seriously, kid?' Look. Papa Crow does not approve.]

You shouldn't hang around yakuza, kid. It's bad for your health.

We don't generally interact much.

[ Plus, gambling in a casino was one of the least dangerous things he had done in several weeks, back home. ]

You should probably keep it that way.

[Maybe ever so slightly amused. At least he's smart enough for that.]

You been here long?

I don't intend to.

[ He shakes his head as he considers the next round. ]

Not very.

You should. Trust me, messing with Yakuza is bad news.

[He nods.]

I haven't, either. A couple of weeks.

Why do you hang around them?

[ It is a simple assumption that the man does; Naoya knows he may be wrong, but then again, they are in this place to make gambles. ]

[He tosses in another chip, and - well. It's a reasonable question.]

I used to be one. I'm not anymore.

Oh.

[ Hmm. Bust. Damn. He sets his cards down. ]
