[Well, if the Chocobo barn can look nice and decorated for the holidays, Yukari sees no reason why the Volo Dorms can't either. That's why she's decided to set a day aside to ( Read more... )

[ Joshua doesn't hold Christmas in quite as high a regard as some of the people in Vatheon, but he can appreciate festivities. But it does remind him that he's not back in Shibuya, where he should be. He doesn't have much else to do than to people watch these days, so when he sees a girl looking indecisive as she picks through decorations, he approaches her with his hands in his pockets. ]

If you're going for a snowman, I'm sure you won't find one classier than that one.

[ He gestures towards a snowman wearing Professor Layton's a top hat. ]

[She turns upon hearing the voice, spotting the apparently young looking boy or girl approaching her. Her attention diverts to said snowman easily enough, and she laughs, though she's not quite sure who this boy is. Meeting new people every day, she supposes.]

I was going for a stocking first, actually. But yeah--now that you mention it, the Volo Dorms could use something like that.

[She might have to make a few...adjustments, though. :V She's just gonna walk on over to inspect it, to see how difficult that would be...]

[ He follows after her. Sometimes he can't help but slip into his old habit of touching the minds of the people around him, even though his ability to has been diminished ever since he arrived. But some old habits are hard to break. ]

Expecting presents that will actually fit in a stocking?

...Maybe.

[That's a good question, actually. And she's realizing it more and more, as he approaches her. She thinks about it some, and--well, really, aren't presents what everyone expects? Stocking or not, she'd say it's kind of an important part of the tradition by now.]

I dunno, really. But some of the natives seem to really want us to hang 'em up. Heh--maybe they wanna put something inside, when the time comes.

[ Smirking! ]

Maybe they plan on giving everyone coal, to remind us of what horrible guests we are.

You really think so...?

[Speak for yourself, buddy. Yukari's been an upstanding citizen.]

Maybe you have been, but I haven't. [She gives a shrug, chuckling a bit.] I guess we'll just have to find out.

But I get oh so impatient waiting for things to happen!

[ Joshua loosely curls a hand by his cheek. ]

Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could jump forward in time to when all the interesting things happen?

[And she can answer that easily enough, even though she's got a skeptical look about her as she does so. Yukari can be kind of impatient, too, but...]

That would depend on your definition of 'interesting.'

[ Joshua's grinning, gesturing with a hand as he speaks. ]

Is interest so easily defined? I'm sure there's been a time you've taken in interest in something you never thought you'd be into.

[...That grin. Something about it--]

Yeah...well, life is full of surprises sometimes.

[He's not wrong, but something about it is starting to rub her the wrong way.]

Where would you choose to 'jump' to?

[ He makes a big show of thinking, though he already knows his 'answer'. ]

How about just before the end of the world? Or maybe I should be saying 'worlds'.

[H-Hey, she fought to STOP the end of the world--]

Why would you wanna be around for that?

[ Well so did he! ... Sort of. ]

Maybe it'd give me a little motivation for the present! There's nothing quite like knowing how everything ends to provide a little incentive to work harder... or to drown in despair.

[...Uh-huh.]

I'm pretty sure there are better ways to motivate yourself, without resorting to something so drastic.
