Oh it is, trust me.

[Eridan's been about ready to climb the fucking walls from his own boredom, not to mention the all too familiar atmosphere of everything has been more than unsettling. Bringing with it the memories of what that lead to, and while this won't lead down that path it doesn't really help at all. Thus why he's being resourceful, thus why he's doing this on top of just wanting to do something romantic with his matesprit, okay there's a lot going into why this is happening, but first and foremost, he's wanting to have a break from the stress of what's come to Vatheon and just have a peaceful, romantic time with his sleep deprived matesprit.]

[... How he's slumped in that chair though, it really just pings Eridan. Karkat honestly needs some sleep, but he knows that's a losing battle before the words even leave his mouth. So instead, he's just going to continue with this, YEP.]

Just follow me, alright?

[And with that, he waits for Karkat to pull his husk off the chair, and if he does so, Eridan will be making his way out of the temporary hive.]

[It was really a pitiful sight to hold, seeing Karkat stand like that and the general shape he was in. Eridan almost wanted to just wrestle Karkat to the ground and make him go to sleep, but he knows that wouldn't happen and he'd probably just end up with a pissed off matesprit if he tried.]

You'll see!

[He continues to lead him away from the village, not saying a word, just a smile on his face as they get nearer and nearer. A casual glance over his shoulder to check on Karkat. Maybe not necessarily worried that he'd get lost, because the way there is a pretty straight shot, not to mention how could he honestly lose Eridan with his gaudy awesome as fuck cape doing its part as a purple beacon of HERE I AM, but more so because he's worried about how tired he is. What if Karkat actually passes out and Eridan keeps strolling none the wiser? Maybe it's a silly thing to worry about, but with Karkat looking the way he does? Yeah, Eridan Ampora is not gonna take the chance.]

We're almost there.

[The beach is in sight, really it's not that far from the village, a 5-10 minute walk really, which hopefully gives enough distance so that any possible snoopers won't be snooping on them.]

[That gets an annoyed look from Eridan, but other than that no reply. NO KARKAT, this is not over some stupid shells or driftwood, GOD! However he remains silent as they reach the spot he wants and then he starts to unclasps his cape, taking it off.]

I actually wanted to take you out on a date...

[He says this as if answering an unasked question.]

But then all that shit fuckin' happened with the Grand Highblood.

[And now he's unfurling his cape across the sand, laying it out nice and even before turning to Karkat. There's a reason he picked this spot, there's no clouds, nothing obscuring the stars and how they shine across the water like illuminating white dimaonds dancing across a seemingly black abyss of an ocean, an animated mirror of the clear sky above them. It's perfect, really, or at least Eridan thinks so. So quiet, basically secluded, and it's gorgeous. Just the two of them and the stars. Or maybe, this is even too corny for Mr. Romcoms over there, god Eridan hopes not.]

This isn't exactly what I had planned... But... I guess it's downright better than nothin', right? [And with that, he goes around the front of his cape and takes a seat, just before laying back and looking at Karkat, smile on his face. He pats the spot next to him, welcoming the other troll to join him.]

[As Karkat takes in the view, Eridan just watches him, watches his expression, watches everything. Almost as if he could read his thoughts if he kept it up. Sadly, he can't, but when Karkat finally speaks it makes his heart flutter. Those four simple words confirming his acceptance and approval of this little makeshift date. If one could even really call it that.]

Yeah, upright gorgeous, huh?

[He props himself up on his elbows, looking out to the starry ocean, that smile still on his lips.]

Figured we could just maybe relax a little. Just you an' me, under the stars. I was just lucky enough to find the perfect spot for it.

[Eridan's eyes fall to the hand on his, turning his hand upward to softly take hold of Karkat's, but when he speaks, Eridan returns his gaze to him. He somewhat feels a slight ping of annoyance at that comment, because of course he did! You're his masteprit, Karkat! He's SUPPOSE to do these sorts of things for you, jeez. Karkat's the romcom enthusiast here, not Eridan, though he admittedly doesn't mind them, actually likes a good majority of them. BUT STILL THE FACT REMAINS.]

[But that next part... He's not sure what to say really. It's not exactly that he strives to come across as being thoughtless, just most the time his thoughts are of himself... But, he does like to show that his thoughts are with those he finds important, even if they don't always agree with how he portrays his thoughtfulness. This, however, was simple enough and he's glad it's being so well received.]

Well, I don't exactly try to seem thoughtless...

[Oh. Well. Yeah. Guess, even in its simplicity it does do well to show his affections, to show that he's thinking about Karkat and wanting to do something for him. Even if it's kinda lame compared to what he'd normally want. He does, however, give Karkat's hand a squeeze in reply.]

Well, yeah. Ewen in these fuckin' stressful times I just wanted to show you I care, ewen though I know you know an' all. Just...

[yeah he's using his elbows and eventually his free hand, to sit up. He's still holding Karkat's hand, not planning on letting that go anytime. He stops a second, looking at Karkat before continuing.]

I wanna take ewery opportunity I can to show you how much I fuckin' care about you Kar. How much I fuckin' downright pity you. Ewen if it's in small fuckin' gestures like this. Ewen when we're limited to a fuckin abandoned willage on a fuckin' island, I wanna make the best of it.
