And then, suddenly--
The elevator was open, lights in the Station Master's house warm and inviting. Suddenly there he was, grinning once more, offering rides once again. He says nothing of the situation, nothing except, with a grin-- "The rain is gone."
That means it's safe to go up.
The ride up is silent, swift, but once up--
SilenceIt is

What does one do when they see their own village being burned for the millionth time?
Anyone stumbling across Bakura, will find him wandering about on the island. Anyone approaching would be in serious danger.]

It was a little hard to ignore without taking the Ring off and shoving it in a box. Which he had tried, only to find it back around his neck moments later, still stubbornly pointing.
So he had followed it, rather uneasy about the entire situation but at the same time, curious. He'd never seen the Ring move on its own before, after all....
When he reached the elevator, the tine had shifted, swinging straight up, so up he had gone, arriving in the silent fog]]
...Like being in a horror game...
[[With that observation, he really should have been expecting a figure to coming up behind him.]]

...They didn't deserve it. [The Ring was going to be his savior. Bakura would run across Yami Bakura at some time. Or, in this case. Yami Bakura stumbling behind him. Not looking directly at him. Something told his zombified brain not look at Bakura at all. It would distract him from his goal..]
Hey you... [He called out into the fog.]
Can I show you something? It's amazing, unlike anything I've ever seen.

Of course. Of COURSE the Ring was leading him to the Spirit, why hadn't he--
The thought trailed off as he turned, spotting his doppelganger. White on white, a specter of death in the fog that seemed to almost cling to the like a shroud.
Bakura instinctively took a step back, hugging the Ring close to his chest with a wince.
He should run. He should get away while he still could, before the Ring's Voice tried to latch on to him again!
But instead he stood there, frozen in place, unsure what to even do.]]

..He mumbled something again about fire. He was holding an open knife in his hands. Both hands holding onto it.]
Come with me. Don't resist. [He doesn't even really realize it is Bakura he's talking to. The Ring was trying to tell Bakura that the Spirit was in danger; the Spirit was normal.]

But even he could tell something was just... not right. There was no boasting, no smugness, no disappointed voice lording over him that he would never be free.
It was more unnerving than their first face to face encounter...
He hesitated a moment before his uninjured hand tensed and he took a deep breath.]]
No.

I'll hurt you. Don't make me hurt you. It would bring me far too much pleasure! [He licks the knife. Quietly progressing towards Bakura, he also hears the ring jingle. He doesn't so much as glance at it. Being Bakura with him, this was his mission.]
Don't you dare tell me no. [Still, monotone. Drab. Something wasn't clicking.]

This wasn't the Voice that taunted mockingly, that cackled with insane glee, that threatened with boiling anger... It was like a shadow, knowing the words but nothing else.
Was this what the Voice was like without the Ring behind it?
He took another, small step back, eying the knife.]]
I'm not afraid of you.
[[This Voice, the monotone, half dead echo... this he wasn't afraid of. As long as he held the Ring, it's voice couldn't use it to hurt anyone. ]]

[The ring is stubbornly pointing at the Spirit. Something is wrong, good thing Bakura got the message. The point was that the Spirit needed to look into Bakura's eyes. Look at him, anything it would take to get the Spirit to snap out of it- this wasn't his maleficent self.]
...Everyone is afraid of me. I murder people, don't I? No shame at all, no fear of hell. [He moves towards Bakura. Knife pointed at the ground.]
I guess you are afraid too? Foolish...

[[It would be a lie to say that he hadn't been afraid during Monster World, but not of the Ring's voice. He had been afraid of what would happen, that he would fail, that his friends would be taken away from him yet again. This figure before him... this mockery of his own appearance... he wouldn't be afraid of that.]]
You can't hurt me any more than you already have....

I just want to show you this place... [...it sounded so urgent.]

What kind of fool would I be if I followed you anywhere? [[There was a bit of an intensity to that, partly his own determination not to be controlled by this specter any longer, partly a touch of anger at himself for having been for so long without even knowing.]]
What are you planning?
Reply
I am planning nothing. Merely carrying out what I was meant to do.
[He steps forward again. He is coming towards Bakura now. Knife out in front, pointing at him. Threatening. He didn't need words for this threat. Bakura had already been warned, he was hoping he wouldn't have to do this to the this...kind young man. Kind seeming anyways.]
Fool... [With his eyes still at the ground, he has the knife near Bakura- he thinks anyways.]

[[his heart is beating rather loudly in his ears as the Ring's Spirit moves closer, his fingers even more tight around the Ring. This doesn't feel real. It's a dream, isn't it? The fog, the oddness, the Spirit not acting at all right... It's enough to make him feel that much braver, even in the face of the knife pointed at him.]]
You aren't even looking at me, how could I believe you aren't lying?
[[He wants to see the eyes. If he were awake, they would be the brown that weren't his; the eyes that were different than the eyes that he had stared down as the dice that held his soul cracked below him.
If it were a dream...]]

I do not need to look at you to hurt you. Ta take you back...to carry out my duty. To save them. [In the Spirit's fantasy. He was saving his village. Yeah- that was what he was doing. He was sure the change of clothing wasn't helping much for his case- full white. Like he had been stuck into some asylum.]
Come with me.
