A hand automatically shot up to his forehead, fingers pinching his nose beneath the cloth. That name... Why does it hold such an impact to him when he knows he'd never heard it before now? It's unfamiliar to him, and yet the very mention of it caused a spark in his chest. Almost like a connection crying out, just like it had with Sora-
Just like it had with Sora all those years ago.
It had been a few days before that incident on the beach, something he'd almost forgotten along with so many other things in his memory. Yet he recalled the tears - how can you forget your best friend crying for seemingly no reason at all? - and the two people who'd visited before then.
'Sora... Do you like Riku?' Of course I like him! He's my best friend!' 'Good. So then if something happens, and Riku is about to get lost, or say he starts wandering-'
'Hey... Did you come from the outside world?' 'Huh? Why would you say that?' 'Because nobody lives out here, and I know you're not from the main island.' 'Smart kid-'
"Outside this tiny world... is a much bigger one."
The stranger... Was that his name: Terra?
"...I'll give you that I've seen that emblem before, but-" His hand slips to his chin in thought, trying to piece everything together. If the stranger's name was Terra, then it made sense that his memory had a reaction like it had. Still, he won't jump to conclusions. Memories could be very misleading...
Ven thinks about this for a moment. "He's a little taller than you and has the same armour on his right arm as me. He's got brown hair and wear his emblem on his belt." He continues on a for a few more minutes before stopping. "So...have you seen him?"
It... it was. That was one thing he'd never been able to do: put a name to the memory, no matter how many pictures he had back home from the days proceeding their meeting. Just knowing that much was more than he had for years.
It's okay, Ven. You weren't the only one who missed the derp. Riku gave a nod, looking toward the direction of the hotel. Was she there now? "Last I know she was staying a local hotel. Don't think she found a place to stay long term just yet."
Well, shoot. He just couldn't get away with not introducing himself, could he? A part of him wanted to mutter 'a castaway from the darkness,' but another made him hold his tongue. It wasn't right not to say it, not if he was a friend of both Aqua's and the stra- ...Terra.
"It's nice to meet you Riku. Thanks for your help." He'd mind him again later once he'd found Aqua, but for now, she was the priority so he set off in that direction.
"Any time." Riku watched Ven leave from behind the black cloth, hoping that he'd find his friend. ...Heh. Friends. Pulling off one of his gloves, he stared at the chain around his wrist that Kairi had given him, even if she didn't recall it now. He didn't even remember when she first had, but the feelings were still there.
That was enough for him on that front.
Still, something in Ven's eyes reminded him of one other person - someone he had to get back to. Seeing the light so strongly in another that darkness didn't exist, his resolve doubled. He would return to their worlds and make things right. He would save his friend from his sleep, whatever the cost.
Terra and Aqua.
Terra...

"As for Aqua... Yes, she is here."

He'd gotten plenty to think about, anyway.
"Riku."
