The beast had just...stopped. After days of attacking the city, it seemed have decided that it had enough and retreated. It was still in plain view and Squall knew that it would just come back once it had recovered from its injuries. And he also knew there was nothing he could do but just wait for it to return. On top of that, when it did come back, what else could he do other than try to fight it off again?
He instead went out onto Vatheon's streets. There were still parts of the city he hadn't fully explored yet. He looked at the shops and restaurants as he passed them by. Except for the whole "underwater and also it kidnaps people from their homes" thing, it was a lot like any other city with people and an economy.
Squall stopped and leaned against the wall. Waiting for things to happen always made him anxious.
