[After a long day of playing doing serious manly business in the snow, Equius is headed back home. He cuts through the Plaza, and is entirely unphased when a newcomer appears just a few feet ahead of him. Barely looking at the poor sap, he pulls a towel out of his sylladex and offers it to him on his way past.]

[A towel is most welcome and Squall takes it before seeing who was offering it to him.

...what a weird looking guy.]

[Most newcomers stare the first time they see a troll. Equius should be used to it by now, but then, he's perhaps a bit more sensitive to being thought of as a freak than the average troll. He slows down, glancing over his shoulder at the human.]

What?

[Whoops, caught staring. Squall wasn't going to pretend that he wasn't. He just hadn't seen a non human like this before. If this was the kind of people that lived here, he was going to have to get used to it.]

Sorry.

[At least he apologized. Placated, Equius stops and examines him.]

You're new here, aren't you?

[He starts drying himself off.]

That obvious?

Yes.

[That one towel isn't going to be enough. Equius pulls out another one and offers it.]

Welcome to Vatheon, I guess.

[He supposes it is obvious. He takes the second offered towel and doesn't question where it comes from. There's more important things he needs to know.]

Thanks. What kind of place is this?

It's an underwater city. The best that anyone can figure, we're pulled here from all across time and space, and no one knows why.

[He pauses, watching the human for a moment.]

Where are you from?

[Pulled...across time and space? Squall wouldn't believe it if this kind of thing hadn't happened to him before.

Stupid time and space things.]

Balamb Garden.

Never heard of it.

[Not that that's particularly surprising; people get yanked for all over, it's almost impossible to keep up on all the different places they come from.]

I'm from Alternia. My name is Equius Zahhak.

[And Squall's never heard of Alternia, but Equius could probably guess that on his own.]

Squall Leonhart. So who's the one who pulled us here?

[No one has heard of Alternia. It's okay, Equius isn't offended.]

Good question. Alpha, the doctor at the clinic, seems to be in charge, but he won't answer any questions.

[Psh, typical. Nothing was ever easy.]

Anything else I should know?

can I just say that I love you're playing VIII Squall instead of Leon? Cause I do! stayb100ponyboy September 24 2011, 06:37:49 UTC
[Shrug]

Find a place to live, see if any of your friends are here, settle in.

Oh!

[He pulls up the side of his shirt, showing Squall a starfish-shaped tattoo along his ribs.]

You have one of these on you somewhere; show it to the locals to pay for things. If you have any money with you, it's no good here.

It's because I like poking fun at him requiem_griever September 24 2011, 06:59:30 UTC
[At first, he doubts that anyone he knows is here. But if he could just suddenly pop in without warning, it was entirely possible someone else did as well. And "settle in?" Meaning that he was expected to stay here and move right in and make himself at home? Really? ...he was, wasn't he? What the hell was up with this place?]

That's...weird. But whatever. Thanks for letting me know.

[He has yet to notice his own mark, but there's a good reason for that: it's on the back of his neck. He'll find it...eventually.]
