Perhaps he was not the person Silver wanted to see. He could even be the last person, considering that some of the Pokeballs on his person did not include members of his team at all, but Silver's.

Yet N still walked up to him, his head clear of crowns, cat ears, and even his baseball cap. He had stuffed his hands in his pockets to hide his nervousness, the confidence he had displayed just a few days earlier gone with his crown.

The boy stopped a few feet away from Silver, not completely meeting his eyes when he glanced at him.

"...hey."

"What." Yes. it is the last person in the world(s) that Silver wanted to see. Well hear, though that venous look is, for now, directed at the 'sky'. At least he's not on his feet and ready to punch someone. Yet.

Though the same couldn't be said for the twich of his own hand to his pokeballs.

N hesitated, silent for a long moment as he warred with himself. Should he do this or not?

He thinks of Gold's words, and those of Minato and Aniki...their faith wars with his own considerations of humanity. What does he do?

His own fingers twitch. Then he slowly takes one of the Pokeballs off of his belt and crouches down, placing it into Silver's palm.

It takes a long moment to register what happened and then that pokeball is disappearing into Silver's pockets like lightening. He doesn't care what one is in the pokeball, just that one of his is back in his possession.

"...Thanks." It's mumbled, more under his breath than anything, and he's not looking at N, rather the 'sky'. If one knows Silver, it's typical avoidance of something or ten that's on his mind.

"I..." The words catch in N's throat. Did he do the right thing? What if Silver...?

He stuffs his hands in his pockets to resist the urge to snatch the Pokeball back. "I believe you can be a good trainer. And take care of them."

His voice cracks. "Please. Do. That's all I want."

"I'll do what I want with my property." Standard Silver answer - there's even a hint of a smirk on his face. He'll always think of his pokemon as his property. But it's slowly, painfully starting to shift to valuable property, not just things that can be used then tossed away of they aren't good enough.

"For all you know, I could have them attack another person." Silver you wouldn't unless you felt you had reason to and I think that mostly everyone knows that now.

N's eyes grew darker and suddenly somewhat sad.

"...I...see I have made a mistake, then." He took a step back, then glanced at Silver's pocket where the Pokeball resided, reaching out to the Pokemon inside it even as he spoke the words he thought to it. "I am sorry."

The pokemon happens to Silver's Golbat, who's understandably linefacy at N. First you take him from his trainer who's FINALLY starting to be decent, then you give him back with a sorry? Silver has more consistency than you.

"Hmph. You think so, huh?" Silver does take a step back, hand closing over the pokeball. Instinctively, he's protecting what's his. Consciously? He just doesn't wanna lose his damned property again.

"I never say what I do not mean."

He tried. He offered Silver his faith. He believed, for a moment, that there was good in the Rocket heir.

N had to close his eyes, taking a deep breath. How did Minato keep so much faith in people when they were like this? Did he just have to keep hoping?

How much pain would Golbat now go through because N was busy hoping Silver got better?

"If you want me to take you back, Golbat, tell me. If you wish to have faith in your trainer...very well."

"Hmph. What of the rest of my pokemon?" There is good, but Silver's still tryoing to come to terms with a whole lot of other things as well. Just keep having faith, N. Or not and be surprized in a few canon updates. Maybe. If Silver doesn't have his Golbat evolve here in Vatheon eventually.

Like Golbat said before N, Silver has more consistancy than you, and yes, the pokemon is just basing that off your actions. He'll have faith in his Master - Silver was finally starting to be a decent person, or trying.

"I hope your faith is well justified."

N puts a hand on his belt and then hesitates.

"...I am willing to give them back to you. However..." He must think carefully about this, and he does, looking out over the lake.

"I am not Minato," he says finally, his tone stronger. "I cannot be. And...I will not be." It is a sudden decision, and a strange one that goes against the way he has been living his life in Vatheon for a long while. He turns on his heel to look Silver straight in the eye.

"I cannot give you infinite chances and wait for you to change. Not when Pokemon are at risk. I do not have the faith in humanity necessary." It hurt to say that. He assumed Minato would be disappointed, if he heard him say those words. Yet in the end...he could not be his mentor, for all he tried to follow and respect him.

"...what I can do is give you chances when you show you deserve them. Show me you are not who you were when you wore the symbol of Team Rocket on your head, prove to me that you are changing, and I will give you another

Silver does not flinch back at that look and meets it with his own. Maybe it's bit arrogant and maybe it's a bit imperious, or maybe it's Silver actually showing his lineage for once. And not the TR side of the lineage. "As I have said you before, I will prove you wrong. Come to think of it... I have faced a Champion and won ( ... )

"You can defeat a Champion without being worthy of the title." N snorted, unimpressed. After all, he did not believe he deserved the title of Champion, and he had ground Alder into the dust.

"I can talk to Pokemon, yes. But I am not asking them. I am not asking about your power. I am not asking opinions. I don't care what others think of you at this moment, human or Pokemon or animal." N raised himself to his full height, his eyes flashing.

"You are the only one with the responsibility to prove yourself worthy. If you cannot do so, our business here is done."

It takes all of Silver's willpower not to give in and deck N for that last line. It's a truth that he doesn't want to hear - that he's got to get better - or,. better than he is right now. He's like to think that he has, but inside - he's still the same, and he knows it. While he does tense, fist clenching looking like he will throw a punch - he doesn't. His lessons with Sephiroth have given him a measure or two of self-control at the very least.

One can't learn to use a sword and not end up with some sort of control, or honour system, after all. 'I'll just steal them back' is also on the tip of his tongue but... It ends up in a frustrated snarl. "Just give the rest of my team back, Harmonia."

"I have given you my terms, Silver." N gave him a last glance before starting away. "See me when you feel you can fulfill them."

"Hmph. Fine."

He would, if he didn't steal his pokemon back like last time. Though with Silver as he is now, he could also actually, you know, keep to the terms. Maybe.
