[Suddenly, there's a pirate dropping out of the sky in a flurry of steel and flames. His feet planted on the staff of his anchor, his descent is cushion by the flames coming out of it, the chain he's gripping onto keeping him steady. But it would seem that flames don't do much against these creatures as he's already learned, so it's a quick change of tactic.
Hopping off and landing on the ground, he yanks on the chain to send the spear slightly into the air- just enough for him to be able to grab and swing it all in one swift motion, his other hand not even leaving his pocket.
And with that, the fish monster is wiped out and splattered against the nearest surface.
A brief exhale and he raises the anchor so it rests against his shoulder, turning to face Renton. He quickly looks him over, decrees him not to be dead, and then with a grin-]
... Shit, Renton. Coulda called if you were havin' trouble.
[Normally, Renton would consider the flashy entrance to be the most amazing thing he's ever seen, but, well. Firstly, he's injured and suffering from blood loss, so his mind is a little too hazy to appreciate the theatrics, and secondly, the splatter does a good job reminding him of what exactly is going down.
... Even if it's a monster and even if the act saved his life, he still can't bring himself not to dislike it.
So instead, all he can do is blink and let out an intelligent-]
[That's what other people would call theatrics, Aniki.
He glances around, feeling kind of guilty that he's just ditching the scene... but he really can't do much in this state, can he?
And then he just stares for a moment-not because he doesn't understand, but because he doesn't exactly have a free hand, and he's a little hesitant about dropping his weapon.
....
Well, uh. Hope you don't mind getting blood on your hand, Aniki. because Renton'll taking it with the hand that was pressed against his still bleeding wound.]
[He'll attribute the slow thinking to the blood loss, but he just. Kind of waves the hand holding the knife-away from Aniki, of course-before deciding to just awkwardly stick it in his waist pouch. And with that, he holds onto Aniki with both hands.]
[And with that, he kicks his spear up into the air, grabbing ahold of the chain and with a slight jump, he's balanced on the handle and the fire pours out of the anchor- sending them up into the air without an issue.
... I don't think 'Jimjam' is a very flattering nickname, Aniki.
[He's silent once they start flying, too busy staring at the ground in awe. Not because he's ever flown like this-he's done it more times than he count, after all-but because he wasn't really expecting to do it here.
A couple of a moments later, it occurs to him that he was asked a question.]
Huh? Oh, uh, nothing too badly...
[Well, that's if you ignore the slight shakiness in his voice and the fact that he's still dripping blood. He's never been one to let something like this get him down, at least.]
Not meant to be flatterin'. It's just fun to mess with him.
[The silence is rather amusing because honestly, Renton? Sky or no sky, he'd feel downright strange if he wasn't able to do this. They maintain balance easily since he's directly controlling the output of the fire and with a firm grip on the chain, it's a pretty smooth ride.
Already he can see the pirate ship that they're headed for.]
Lie to me again and I'm droppin' you from here.
[Even if he sounds like he's joking, it's best not to test him.]
[It's a strange sensation-steadier but reffing, but in the same vein, it feels less natural as well. Not purely in the sense that he's unused to this exact kind of flying, but because... well, it's painfully obvious that they aren't riding on the waves.
Still, it's better than nothing.
... At the threat, though-]
H-Huh? But I'm not... well... It's really not that bad!

A-Aniki!?

Still, he offers Renton his free hand.]
Yup. Looks like I'm pretty late. C'mon, the ship should be more reliable for defense.

The ship...?

[But he doesn't seem to mind the blood at all. Instead using his grip on Renton's hand, he tries to move the kid onto his back.]
I figure it's safer than here. So do me a favor and hold on, will ya?

[He can't seriously be suggesting what Renton thinks he is-]
Reply
So? You holding on okay?
[because he'd really rather get going before encountering another fish monster, Renton]

[Well, first things first.]
Um...

No, it's probably not, but I've got your blood on my hand to prove it's pretty bad as is.

[A slight wince, as he can't really argue against that, can he?
There's silence, before he speaks.]
... I didn't really have the time to check. But I mean, I'll live, so...!

[wow these kids are all really good at throwing away their lives--]

Well, I was kinda busy with other things...
[It's called being a protagonist, Aniki. Especially of The Messiah variety.]
