[He makes a swirling gesture with one hand and the flames brighten, then abate a bit.] Means charred on the outside, raw on the inside--you cook it at really high heat just long enough to sear it on all sides but it's still all raw in the middle.

I don't think too many people like their steak like that though. There's something kinda... feral about it.

Well, the technology here is definitely more user-friendly than the stuff back home. [Damn temperamental computer systems and weird glowy sphere things in Castle Oblivion and wtf walkie talkies, didn't those go out of style in like 1983?

[He grins at Yukari. Yeah, it's useful, and fun to boot, but he wonders sometimes if it was worth what he lost to get it. And then it all goes back to the wondering if he really lost anything at all... But that's not a story for a first impressions kind of meeting. Or a second or third, for that matter. Or ever, possibly, but he'll just wait and see how it goes.]

Well, I enjoy it, in any case. [He pulls a little tail of fire from the grill to one hand, rolling it between his fingers and then letting it dance in his palm.] And it's useful, but it's not something I use too often, for the record. Outside of work, anyway. Which I do as little of here as possible. [A chuckle.] Barbecues and empty threats comprise most of its uses these days. And the occasional lighting of birthday candles.
