Tsukasa. [He takes the knife away from his face and closes it.] You're right.
You're right. I don't really care if you're alone or not. Aren't we all alone in this world~? After all, humans are cruel, cruel creatures. We can relate on the level where we both know that, can't we? Look at your face. It looks like I just snapped the neck of a new puppy in front of you.
Hehehe. Ah..But Tsukasa.
[He leaps off from the area and stands to the side.]
Every living creature on this earth dies alone. That's a quote from a movie from where I come from. It's a pretty good film and I'd say that line is pretty right. Whether or not you believe in a god or an afterlife, we all have to face the inevitable fact that we're truly alone in this world and after it. It could be considered an apathetic perspective or just an honest one. I like to think of it as the later. You're no more alone than I am.
The only true solace is to take comfort in our own existence. To cherish our own beings as we can. If you died here tonight, it wouldn't really matter. If you stayed dead, it wouldn't really matter. People would go on along with their every day lives. Those friends you mentioned would eventually get over your death, cope and move on. No one really cares. But I have to hand it to you, Tsukasa, you didn't want to kill yourself when I talked to you. That was pretty surprising~.
But that doesn't change the fact that you're just as ugly and pathetic as every other human being. You're desperate for a gap to fit into in this world. Your apathy of the human race and your depression disgusts me frankly. Maybe you should just let go and make sure to land on your head. Even if you come back to life, experiencing death must be a break enough from this world long enough to revitalize whatever stupid confidence you had beforehand.
You're right, Tsukasa. People are selfish. They're the most selfish animals that I know of. When it comes down to it, they truly care for nothing but themselves.
It's funny. I wanted to be your friend. But you rejected me. It hurt my feelings.
[Have some feigned hurt here. He's walking and talking this whole time, making sure to step heavy on the weak wood.]

[The others would move on if he died, wouldn't they? But he can't die… not yet… he's still got things he wants to d. If he has to live for anything, he at least wants to live long enough to see him get what he deserves.]
I still have… things I need to do. And I know now that I can do them.
[He eyes the distance that Izaya is at. Too far for him to reach out and drag him with him… and he's not that strong anyway.]
Maybe if you cleaned up your behavior… but I doubt you will. You sneak around like a creep, and you take pleasure in messing with people.
[He's quiet for a moment.]
I'm not sure you're even human. You seem more like a monster to me.

Really? Well I'm glad that this situation has seemed to enlighten you. Funny how the edge of death speaks to people.
[He turns his back to Tsukasa, looking up now at the dark ocean.]
You're so hurtful, Tsukasa. I don't sneak around whatsoever. And some people here seem to really like me even.
[Monster?......
He snaps his head to the side and smirks dangerously. In that moment, he really doesn't look human. His eyes slit and his mouth widens cruelly.]
Me? A monster?
[He starts to laugh, and this time, it's hysterically.]
Me! A monster!!
[He spins around and prances over to where Tsukasa is. He leers down at him like a wolf might a dying lamb.]
I'm so flattered, Tsukasa. I am so flattered!!
[He's yelling now, and his eyes look too distant from the situation.]
Monster?
[And he moves so quickly that it really is plausible that he's not human because suddenly, he's got a grip on the staff outside of Tsukasa's hands and he has his face right in Tsukasa's.]
I've met monsters before. [He jerks the staff out of place but keeps a tight hold.] I'm no monster. I just want to be loved is all. By you, Tsukasa. You and every other human out there. As pathetic and predictable as you all are...
Should I let go?
[The wood around them groans as though in confirmation but his eyes are intent on Tsukasa's.]
You might not even die. Shall we see?

[He grips his staff tightly, and he tries not to shake under that gaze. He can't show weakness here. Guys like him feed on that sort of stuff. He's seen it enough from his father and from other people his age and he can't. He won't.]
[He recoils a bit from the yelling and suddenly Izaya is in his face and he doesn't know what to do. He just wants to curl up and go away, but he can't because that would be letting Izaya win and he can't do that. He can't keep running away. He has to fight back but he doesn't know how.]
[And then he's asked a question, and he doesn't say anything, just thrashes and tries to pull away, because he can't think of any other way.]
[And if he dies like this -]
[- he'll come back, right? That's what he was told-]
[-but he doesn't know-]
[- but he can't stand this any longer and something has to give, and it's probably going to be the wood and he can't bring himself to care anymore.]

I'm just trying to love you. Can't you understand that?
[His love was obviously not directed right at Tsukasa. It was a vague love, elusive like smoke. He stares unwaveringly at Tsukasa. He has never once murdered a person before. He had always convinced others to steadily jump to their deaths or something. In which Celty, for some reason, saved them at times. This was new though. And Tsukasa?
Tsukasa wasn't Minato. There was nothing about his words or his expression to suggest...
Anything. Why should he let Tsukasa live? He was hopeless. Did he hate Izaya? Izaya chuckles at that thought. Of course he did- why wouldn't he? But just in case.]
Does Tsukasa hate me?
[Izaya's strong, but there's still a pretty impressive strength that comes with holding up a boy the size of Tsukasa at such an awkward angle. He sighs dramatically.]
You know, Tsukasa, I love humans. I truly do. But you're all so spiteful. I'm only interested in helping you. Yet, you'd spit on my grave. Heh..haha..
[He squeezes his grip around the staff and pulls up as though he's actually going to help Tsukasa continue living.]
Personally though...I don't like you at all. You're weak...You're a disgusting excuse for a human....
[The wood around them started to splinter a bit more. Izaya knew it was three seconds if not less before this wood would give way.]
Heh, later Tsukasa. Time for me to bounce.
[And with that, he practically threw the staff (and Tsukasa) down into the gap that had been created. He let go of the staff and leaped backwards instantly, just as the rest of the wood gave way. He scrambled gracefully up and off onto one of the safer grounds and watched in fascination as a good portion of wood cracked and fell apart.
It was beautiful.]
