[Well that's new. Usually new arrivals show up in the plaza, what's one doing in the woods? After finding Demyx in a similar situation, though, Axel finds himself wondering if this girl was caught by the curfew police, too. She didn't look injured, just disoriented, and soaking wet too. Approaching her, Axel rubbed his chin and then drops to a crouch beside her, frowning curiously.]
[Cautious around strangers isn't a bad mindset, really, so he's certainly not offended. Honestly it's when people are totally open right away that he gets a little weirded out. But he can't deny his curiosity, and so he hopes she'll at least give him a few answers.]
You were out after the curfew, weren't you? [It's less a question and more an assumption.]
Curfew. You know, when your folks think they can keep you from doing something stupid with your high-school SO by telling you to be home by ten. [...] You didn't hear that we're supposed to stay inside after dark cuz of whatever new creepy-crawly somethings The Powers That Be dreamed up this week?
I don't know what you're talking about, actually. We don't have schools like that in my world. [At least she had a vague understanding from Kagome, though.] No, I didn't. They were right that something's out here, though.
Er... oh. [Sorry, Sango, he keeps forgetting that not everybody can travel between worlds so easily as he used to be able to; just because it's not like home doesn't mean it's unfamiliar to him. He waves one hand then, as if to segue to the next topic.] Yeah, either way it does seem like it's in place for a reason. Friend of mine wound up in a similar situation, but at least it doesn't seem like anybody's getting hurt.
[Yet?]
You're... not hurt, right? [Ah... she doesn't look hurt, but he guesses he could be arsed to lend a hand if she needs it; he's got nowhere to be.]
[He shakes his head, rising from the crouch and leaning against the nearest tree.]
Friend'a mine wound up the same way, I found him a little bit ago. He was fine, too, just soaked and confused. Said the shadows got him--did you see what happened before you got here?
[Interesting. What purpose could these shadow things possibly serve if they weren't actually harming people?]
Well, since you seem not to be injured and know who and where you are, I guess I won't keep you. I assume you can make it back into town okay, yah? [He's got some thinking to do on this whole subject.] Don't think I caught your name... Mine's Axel.
[He gives a brief two-fingered salute and then turns to head for the main road.]
Well then, Sango, nice to meet you. Watch out for those shadow-nasties--maybe I'll see you around. [Grin~] I'd love to hear the story behind why you carry a six-foot boomerang sometime.
You're not new, are you?

No. I'm not sure why this happened.

It doesn't seem like I am. So I'm not the only one this has happened to?

[And with a wave over his shoulder, he heads back toward town.]
