Bear with him; he knew the last Kan. : D;; amidstreason May 19 2011, 04:41:07 UTC
[ ... And then there was a glowing not-quite-human looking teenager who spotted the young troll.

Kanaya...?

They'd talked a bit before, and he had reassured her about Rose. He'd met Feferi once before as well, and was somewhat familiar with the trolls by now. Not very, but somewhat.

His own yellow eyes were taking her in, as if he'd expected to see a ghost. Maybe others would come back, too? ]

You're Kanaya-san, right? Talk about getting soaked... I don't think anyone's landed in the fountain before when they get here.

Are you okay?

Oh noooooo He's Nocturne's main character, right? meddlefussyfang May 19 2011, 15:25:43 UTC
[And just as she was getting out of the fountain, she was greeted by an unfamiliar---person? He looked a little like the humans, with no horns and pale skin. But then again, he had properly yellow eyes, and these strange glowing blue skin designs which fit neither human nor troll.

And to top the strangeness off, he knew her. At least the previous passersby had either been acquaintances or strangers. He's going to be getting a vaguely confused expression, with no familiarity on it.]

Ah, yes I am Kanaya. Did one of the others let you know I had... arrived here?

...I'm fine. I should have realized that remaining in close proximity to the fountain would negate the drying effect of the towels somewhat.

... He is yes ♥ amidstreason May 19 2011, 18:48:23 UTC
[ A moment's pause, and he shakes his head. ]

No, I just saw your name back on the contact list. You've been here before, but I'm not surprised if you don't remember. We've actually spoken before.

[ On that note, he has another towel to offer her, at least. ]

There's somewhere nearby you can get some dry clothes, if you want? This is Vatheon, by the way.

I only played a little of the game, but enough to recognize him. :) meddlefussyfang May 20 2011, 02:46:26 UTC
A contact list? Oh yes, Eridan mentioned something to that effect. And I feel I must apologize, for I do not remember being here before.

[Kanaya is still disoriented by the idea that, not only had she been here before, but she had no memory of it. What had the previous version of her done and said? How many people knew her and expected things of her that she would not be able to reciprocate?

She accepts the towel to begin wiping off her arms, and smiles as the suggestion of getting dry clothing.]

Clothing I can take care of easily enough. Did the past-me never demonstrate my wardrobifier?

[She fidgets with something, and suddenly her clothing is changed to a different outfit once, twice, three times. Each outfit is nicely dry, too, though she remains wet underneath.]

... I'm just surprised someone recognized him. *o* amidstreason May 20 2011, 03:50:04 UTC
[ ... He has never seen anything like that, and it is kind of fascinating. He pauses a moment, to stare, before blinking. ]

Oh, that's alright. We only talked over the communicator. I wouldn't worry too much about it, if I were you?

[ He's noticed, Kanaya. Fretting will do no good, after all. But he can't resist asking... ]

How did you do that?

My roommate collects Shin Megami games. Doesn't play them, just collects them. XD meddlefussyfang May 20 2011, 17:03:11 UTC
I have been a bit concerned about it since I first learned that another 'me' had been here before. I will try to ensure that any worrying I do is only what seems necessary at the time.

[Kanaya's face, meet Kanaya's hand. Don't you remember trying to explain this to Vash earlier today? It didn't go smoothly, Kanaya. You started babbling at least once in that conversation.]

I don't understand the technology behind it well enough to explain it, unfortunately. The simple answer is that I am using my wardrobifier, which keeps a number of my favorite outfits stored and ready to switch off at any point.

Reply

... How could you not play them though. amidstreason May 20 2011, 22:57:28 UTC
... Well, worrying never gets you anywhere. Besides, she's not you, right? You're you. Sorry if I upset you or anything? It's not uncommon for weird time stuff to happen here with people, anyway.

[ Moving on to her wardrobifier... ]

I think it's cool, anyway.

[ That's the most intelligent thing he has to say right now. ]

If it helps any, I think a lot of people from the universe you came from are here, so it's not like you're alone.

Roomie gets bored by the grind playstyle pretty easily. I've only gotten *through* P4 myself... meddlefussyfang May 21 2011, 00:07:43 UTC
[He seems to think she is worried about something else than she is.]

I am already accustomed to strange temporal phenomena, due to my experiences during the last few weeks. Our text messenger program somehow allowed us to hold conversations with our past and future selves, and I do not want to run into the error of thinking of such alternate selves as being entirely separate entities.

[She got enough of that just hearing about the infamous memos in passing.]

But thank you for offering gestures of reassurance. And I apologize for completely forgetting my manners. You already know my name at least, but I do not know yours...?

Reply

Hahaha, it does take a little dedication. I'm something of storyline freak myself, so. amidstreason May 22 2011, 00:19:28 UTC
... Mine are pretty terrible too, actually, I completely forgot. Naoki Kashima is my human name. It's nice to meet you.

[ And as if expecting the next question, he adds: ]

No, I'm not human.

[ Moving on! ]

While that's probably true, you define your actions right now, you know? This place is strange, but not as weird as what you may be used to. I think you won't have any problems with it if you're already accustomed to the weird time, multiple instances of worlds and realities thing.

Reply

And moving on? XD meddlefussyfang May 22 2011, 04:59:52 UTC
[No, what she's encountered here is not as weird as what she's used to. The problem is that she doesn't just know about this world, the way she did the game. No visions of the future have shown her this place. It's disorienting.

But perhaps the apparent freedom of not knowing will be pleasant.]

After a while we became accustomed to the rules of the game we were playing, and the different worlds we were traveling through. Even when it fell apart at the end, many things were still familiar. I suppose the same will be the case here, even through the changes that the different people bring.

Thank you again for the encouragement, Naoki.

How long have you been here?

amidstreason May 23 2011, 02:53:30 UTC
Since December... about five months or so?

[ He did have to consider that for a moment. ]

But it shouldn't be hard to get accustomed to here, either. It's not better for everyone, though, but it's not so bad, either.

Reply

Out of curiosity, which faction did you side with? Or did you just play multiple times? meddlefussyfang May 23 2011, 15:06:56 UTC
[A frowning, frustrated expression. Cultural differences all over the place.]

...I am not actually familiar with the term 'month'. I believe the kids we were trolling used it, but never gave me a context for what it means. Could you describe that time in weeks by any chance?

Reply

None! Neutral ending, which is what I took him from here. /plans to replay multiple times though. amidstreason May 23 2011, 21:38:58 UTC
Oh, sorry about that. Let's see... on Earth, it takes about a day for it to spin on it's axis. Which is about twenty-four hours? One day cycle and one night cycle, basically. My home world actually is kind of in permanent day, so we go by phases, it's a little different.

[ He looks thoughtful for a moment. ]

Seven days make up a week, and four weeks generally make up a month. Thirty or so days. There's twelve months in a year--about how long it takes the Earth to orbit it's sun once. Does that help any?

[ He offers a patient smile. He, at least, like most kids, was taught the basics of the solar system of his world, though he generally tuned out math, because he tended to find it boring. ]

Reply

Oh yeah the phases... I forgot about that! XD Fusion on the full moon, yeah? meddlefussyfang May 25 2011, 05:23:06 UTC
[Kanaya listens intently to the explanation of the varying units of time. This is one of the things that many will assume others know, despite the differences between worlds. Interesting to note that Naoki partly!human lived with a different time system as well.]

Then five months would be... approximately twenty one weeks?

Yes, that was a very helpful explanation. I hope it will prevent most of the confusions and misunderstandings likely to arise. Already some of my peers are using these terms, and I would prefer to comprehend as much of what is happening as I can.

You can fuse on every phase. o: Full lets you do sacrifice fusion, but it's more dangerous. amidstreason May 25 2011, 09:37:42 UTC
Yeah, that's right! You've got it.

[ A full-blown smile now; he's pretty pleased. ]

I can see why you'd want to know. It would be pretty confusing otherwise if people just kept saying things you didn't really understand and could only guess at, right? I'm glad I could help.

[ Not going to mention he didn't pay enough attention in class to go into specifics--he's hoping that won't be necessary though. ]

Personally, my planet was a version of Earth beforehand, so I'm pretty used to that kind of thing.

Reply

I remember spending an hour on a specific fullmoon fusion only to have it glitch! I stopped playing. meddlefussyfang May 26 2011, 02:11:45 UTC
Beforehand? Does that relate to the question you anticipated and preemptively answered? Perhaps your world was also lost in games and machinations of already powerful entities vying for more power...

[If this appears to be a sore topic, Kanaya is willing to step away from it immediately. But he was the one who brought the topic back, so maybe..?]
