Hey, another troll girl!

[Okay, that's not really a proper way to greet someone, but in Vash's defense, he's not known for his tact. Getting up from his place at his outdoor table, he quickly manages to get a towel from one of the waiters and strides over to her with a grin, offering the towel.]

Sorry- the name's Vash. You alright there?

Another troll girl?

[Kanaya is perfectly accustomed to people without tact. She's friends with the other trolls. More startling than his manners is his pale white skin and complete lack of horns. In person! She accepts the towel while visibly gaping at him.]

Yes thank you. Your name is Vash? I am Kanaya. Um, could you tell me where I am?

Yeah! Aradia. Long black hair, cheery attitude, curled back horns?

[He feels a bit awkward being stared at, but just deals with it. Hey, as long as no one is shooting at him, he is perfectly fine with being gaped at. Besides... He'll blame it on the sudden arrival.]

Well, if you believe everyone else here, this place is called Vatheon. It takes people from all over the place, or something. It's a bit lost on me. [He rubs the back of his head sheepishly.]

Cheery?

[This is said with a hint of disbelief. Yes, the sudden arrival is a fine theory for why she's behaving oddly. The reality is that she's a new arrival, you're an unfamiliar, pale squishy human, and now you're claiming Aradia is cheery.

But then you make a claim about it taking people all over the place. And if people can be abducted from any location, any universe, then through time is plausible too. Maybe there's a young, still living Aradia here?]

Yes, I knew Aradia. Or know her I guess. I think I will ask her to explain how she's here and see for myself if she is cheery.

[Oh, here it is again. Not being believed. But Vash can only shrug helplessly and straighten up.]

Maybe it's a different Aradia. Hey, maybe it's a different person altogether. I mean, she had wings, and you don't, so... Okay, I have no idea. Do just certain types of trolls have wings? Is it a family thing?

[Has this been a point of disbelief from other trolls? Because while young!Aradia was a cheerful, skipping explorer, robot!Aradia is a robot. And, as Karkat helpfully announced to the lab, a bit off.]

Well. Yes. I know of at least one troll who has wings. But that would mean that Aradia reached godtier...

[Congratulations Vash! You are the first to send Kanaya on the contemplative babbling that forever has Rose telling her to shush. Your prize is a completely distracted new arrival. What do you want to do now?]

[Aw man! He was aiming for the stuffed dragon. So unfair.

Well, he really wants to ask just what 'godtier' is, but... Well. Kanaya seems a bit in her own world, now. Vash tentatively breaks the babbling.]

Hey! Idea. How about we get you some dry clothes and food, first, and I'll explain everything to you. Huh?

[Better luck next time~ Kanaya looks startled at the interruption, then smiles slightly in an embarrassed way.]

My clothing should already be dry... oh.

[The new troll examines her damp-but-not-soaked clothing, and nods with the realization. It turns out that dry clothing on a wet person who is still sitting next to a fountain does not remain dry. She really should have remembered this lesson from the watery land she spent some time in recently.

She's standing up now and approaching Vash.]

That is probably a good idea. Thank you.

No problem. Luuuuuckily for us, everything's free! Lucky for me, really, considering how much trouble I'm in for money...

[Looking around, he finally spots a store and points over to it. Not that he's an expert in girl's fashion, but... That should be alright, right? Maybe?]

How about over there?

so many rueful smiles. meddlefussyfang May 18 2011, 23:23:05 UTC
That seems very convenient.

[Poor Vash, you did not notice her fiddling with the wardrobifier's settings, as her outfit has changed a few times in the last minute. The concept of food was what spurned her agreement. She thought that was obvious.]

Um. The building with all the clothing in it? Would it have private chambers in which I could finish drying off? And then we sit down to food and an explanation, or as much of one as you are able to give. Correct?

[Nope, he didn't notice at all. So when he finally looks back down at her, he just blinks for a second and thus shrugs sheepishly.]

Well, I imagine so, 'specially since you don't look like you need any new clothes... [He starts to escort her- it's the gentlemanly thing!- to the store.]

How'd you do that clothes trick? Seems mighty handy.

Vash uses them even more often than Kanaya, to my memory :) meddlefussyfang May 19 2011, 15:54:51 UTC
[Welp, she's a little sheepish now, as it seems his intention was to bring her to a building with clothing for others to take. And if she weren't so curious about the situation, she would have been happy to do so! So few trolls are interested in fashion, so most of her work is made by request. The concept of having enough people interested in clothing that there was a store dedicated to it... what a ~wondrous idea~

But yes for now it is time for more serious business. By which we evidently mean cultural exchange? She will follow his lead in this.]

Ah, well, I have my wardrobifier. I don't actually know much about its mechanics... I think my outfits are stored in a fashion similar to the fetch modus, and withdrawn as I set them to. I am not explaining this very well. Maybe Sollux or Equius would be better able to explain it?
