Jack walks outside, in the dead of night. What does he hear? He doesn't know. But he totally has a baseball bat behind the door, he had to protect Alice from thieves and robbers and the like.
But who he sees instead, it kinda makes him laugh. "Mister Dominion of Canada. It's half past midnight and you're planting flowers?"
One of these days he's going to have to work on gardening more quietly. Which means not bumbling around or muttering to himself, since he had nearly tripped earlier and was still talking to himself at the moment Jack had caught him.
Well. Speaking of being caught, he looked up at Jack, looking extremely guilty. "...that's exactly what I'm doing."
well, you aren't texting me so, GTFO MY LAWN.tangledlocksMay 2 2011, 02:58:20 UTC
"Are you alright? Do you need to come in Matt?" His home was always open to Matthew, if he needed it to be. Jack was having a bout of insomnia tonight anyhow. Sleeping for so long made it hard to sleep again. But that was okay, he guessed.
"You look angry, but you don't seem like an angry gardener."
FINE. :(((((( /STALKS OFF, kicking grass.vimyridgeMay 2 2011, 03:31:47 UTC
"I- I'm fine. Really." If one considered yelling at someone and virtually kicking them out of his apartment and then throwing a gift they had brought him out the window fine, then he was completely fine. Avoiding people was also fine as well. Then again, nobody bothered to try contacting him, anyway, to see if he was okay so that didn't matter any more to him. It only seemed to solidify that he generally wasn't important enough unless he was seen.
"It's just that-" Pausing, he frowned a bit to himself before shaking his head and going back to his first statement. "N- no. It's nothing. I'm fine."
Jack could always tell when Matthew wasn't fine. He wouldn't let Matt avoid him either, he would call and text and call and text until the boy picked up the phone. It was his job to make sure his friends were all okay, including Matt.

He... really would appreciate such a persistent effort. Usually. But at the current moment, he didn't appreciate much and would only turn his communicator off. Or turn it on silent and hide it somewhere and hope that he remembered where he put it.
"I- it's late. You don't have to invite me in. Honestly."
not my graaaaasss.tangledlocksMay 8 2011, 22:46:12 UTC
"Hush Canada-sir. Come in. Please. It's the least I can do." For all the Canada did for him in the past. Inviting him in was the least he could do for him. "You can stay the night if you'd like to, your room is as you left it. Didn't wanna give the room to anyone else."
/take that, grass.vimyridgeMay 14 2011, 17:30:55 UTC
He really thought about continuing to insist he was fine and that it was okay, but after having been out for so long and all, it really was sounding like a nice offer. "I- I can at least sit for a few." He wouldn't take up much more space than a couch, really. He promised.
"I wish you would just stay the night, it's already pretty late you know." He shut the door and locked it. Alice and Oz should be sleeping upstairs, and Jack has his domain of the downstairs, where Alice also climbs in bed with him sometimes too.
/...makes it better.vimyridgeMay 15 2011, 05:30:03 UTC
"I- if you're sure then." Really, he didn't put up that much of a fight about it. He missed being in the house, really, but one of the reasons he had been so hesitant to return and, ultimately, why he chose to just find his own place once more was because he had sometimes felt as if he was intruding. He knew that Jack and Alice were close, after all, but he always seemed to interpret it as a sort of budding relationship and he didn't want to be that person who was always around and getting in the way without meaning to.
"I don't even know how long I've been up now, anyway."
"You need to rest Canada-sir. You know what it means for you if you don't sleep." He shook his head. "That's right, boogie monster will come and eat you. Or the sandman will interpret that you have horrid feelings against him and he'll never ever come see you again." He hopes Matthew knows he was really just playing with him.
Jack wanders off to the kitchen and returns with some hot mint tea, meant for relaxation and to help the process of sleep. "I've been drinking this to help me sleep. Getting back into a normal sleeping pattern has been harder than it really should." He doesn't know what to tell Matthew at this ppint, except that he should try to drink the tea and sleep. "I'll bring you a comforter and pillow."
"You do make a good point. And I am quite afraid of the boogie monster. In fact, I even make sure my closet is well shut at night before going to bed." He was, really, teasing Jack back with that. He promised. "As for the sandman, though... I'd hate to make him upset at me. He and I are already on shaky terms as it is sometimes." That was more of a truth than a lie, actually. He sometimes suffered from insomnia and other times he was liable to fall asleep on someone at any given moment it seemed.
On the other hand, that tea smelled delightful, actually. He couldn't help but smile in a thankful manner as he accepted the cup. "Thank you, Jack. For everything." He was far too nice to him, really. Sometimes Canada didn't think he deserved it.
"What in heavens name could you be thanking me for? I don't do anything worthy of thanking. Atleast I do not think so." He smiled a little and sipped the tea. He knew he never deserved any sort of kindness from Canada or anyone else. He was a terrible person. He killed his best friend back in his own world, and he couldn't save Alice back in his world either. He hated himself sometimes.
"Better get back in good terms with the sandman, right?"
Looking down again, he just sort of nodded and left it at that. He didn't have the energy right at the moment to try and mount any sort of disagreement, even though he wanted to. He was just tired of disagreeing with everyone it seemed and saying how wrong they were. It was just tiring. So he simply sighed.
"I will. I should try to do so soon." Or soon enough, anyway. He suddenly didn't feel too tired any more or anything once again.
"I just want to know you're safe, sound, and have a place to sleep tonight. You don't have to stay till morning, but I'd rather not be alone." The house was awfully quiet, can you see why Jack wants you to stay? "I don't wanna trek all the way upstairs to see if Alice is actually home tonight. I haven't seen her in quite some time."
Jack was still sitting on the couch, he guesses that it was a little depressing that Alice was always absent from their home. He didn't know what to make of it anymore.
Ever so subtly, he scooted closer to Jack until he was sitting right next to him. "I don't mind staying at all." A soft smile settled upon his face as he spoke and for once it was a true smile instead of some half-hearted forced smile. It felt nice to be able to offer one as well, especially to Jack. "She's an adventurous girl, I think. She's probably off still exploring Vatheon." No matter how long one was there, he didn't think that it was possible to truly explore all that Vatheon had to offer. It was always full of little surprises, after all.
"You can stay here with me, if you'd like." He honestly would like such a thing as he did enjoy the company.
But who he sees instead, it kinda makes him laugh. "Mister Dominion of Canada. It's half past midnight and you're planting flowers?"
