It only took her a few minutes to find the library and...for a minute she stopped. Stared. Her outfit was a little more princess-like, but she had shorts under it just in case she had to run or something like that. And that boy...well, from how he looked she almost swore it was Riku. However...on closer examination...
She felt awkward looking at the boy as intently as she was but there was something about him that reminded her of Riku (aside from the obvious physical similarities) but not. Like it was just a person who looked exactly like Riku, but wasn't...so with a feeling of nervousness fluttering in her stomach the Princess approached the boy with a smile on her face.
"Hey! Did you...get a text that told you to be here? If you didn't it's okay...just was trying to see if there was anyone else who had gotten something like it."
Well...it was a start.

I know her- No, Riku knows her. Who is she?
After a moment, he finally looked up at her again as he pulled his hand away from his face. "I think there's been a mistake..." He focused again, trying to recall those buried memories. "I don't know who sent me that message, and I don't know you either."

He's as confused as she is. Well...maybe he's a bit more blunt than Riku, but its okay. He seems like a totally different person, even if he looks like Riku. "Well, maybe its a coincidence, then...I don't know who sent me the message either, but I'd like to at least meet the other person who got the mysterious message too." She tilts her head, her smile warming up a little more. "I'm Kairi. What's your name?"
Reply
Which name to give, though? He still thought of himself as 'Riku' in his head no matter how much his heart protested. Lea called him Raravis, but Lea also knew Riku and that was the only reason they'd met in the first place. Ventus called him Caden, and their meeting was hinged on a bond of understanding, not appearance...
He rolled his shoulders back, trying to get back to his proud posture. "Caden's fine," Pause. "Kairi." The name rolled off his tongue so easily. He couldn't smile back at her - not yet - in part because something about her reminded him of Ventus; he couldn't look at him directly either, at first.
Reply
...it was okay, she concluded, that he could know her name. If she was reading his responses correctly, maybe he was uneasy about her warmness and just needed someone to talk to. Or at least get to know her a little more.
"Caden is a nice name." Was her simple answer back. When he had spoken her name maybe she gave a look of surprise towards him at first but it was, again, a warm smile. "So...I guess maybe then we were supposed to meet here. What do you think?"
She took a passing glance at some of the natives walking by, and then looked back to him to wait on his response.

Did Ven know that and tell me to come anyway?
A friendlier person would've offered to spend the afternoon with her anyway, but Rep was still struggling with the idea that being 'social' was somehow in his best interest. He regarded Kairi's expression, still completely bewildered by anyone as open-hearted as she and Ven were. Eventually he sighed, then spoke again.
"I'm supposed to check this place out since I've never been here." It was pretty much as close as she was going to get to an offer to hang out. He took after Riku in some of the worst ways, really.

...Okay. She needed to stop comparing Caden to Riku. Now.
Shaking her head, she nodded in response but paused when he spoke. Okay...maybe Riku was his mentor or something but seriously...okay. How did she deal with Riku when he was like this before?
"Maybe I could come in with you? Never saw this place before either, actually..." She admitted and asked, glancing towards him again before crossing her arms and looking up towards the building. Now...she kinda wish she had a coat or something, to cover her arms because inside buildings were a little chillier than outside. But she'd be okay...or so she hoped.

After ascending the stairs and stepping into the library, Rep took note of the art on the walls, just as the message had relayed. They were much more interesting to him than any of the books there. The place was so oddly quiet... it reminded him of the hollow echoes that followed you throughout Castle Oblivion.

She followed him into the library, and a whisper of a gasp escaped her lips. Never in her life had she seen something so big, so elegant, and so art-based. Her eyes flitted over the pictures, and she felt her breath catch in her throat; she didn't want to speak, on instinct, because of how quiet it was. That quiet got to her...it was so interesting how such a room could feel so...empty. "W...wow...guess theres a reason a library is so important.." her voice managed to speak out in a whisper, and she walked past him to examine a picture, run her hand over a book here or there. In a bit of a louder whisper, so it could get to her accompanying friend, she asked, "Well...where should we start?"

As they continued walking, he would only stop if she did. He was drawn to the more abstract art that looked like little more than swirls and bursts, especially if they were in the white-grey-black spectrum. Art that fit those categories he would even smile at, as if the lack of any realistic meaning pleased him.

Even though it clearly meant something to him, he didn't look pleased by it. He looked confused and focused inward, because he couldn't even decide for himself how he was supposed to feel about it. He knew it was Riku's memories that were providing him with the strong reaction, and that was what made it so frustrating.
"Hey, Kairi... do you know much about art? Like, why people make it, and what it's supposed to do?"

One of the nifty little things about being who she was, well...in addition to being almost pure good and all, despite some cases of naivety there were things that she picked up on. Almost all princesses could think up things on the quick but she...since she wasn't raised like a true Princess of Heart, her skills were in reading certain things about people.
Like Caden's interest in the pictures that weren't exactly vibrant and colorful but their schemes suggested a depth to them that she couldn't even begin to comprehend. So she didn't know if he would notice that whenever he spotted one of those particular pictures she would slow down and look at them with him. Letting him have a choice. With all the pretty ones around though it was nice to look at the ones without that much color and see what differences lay there.
And now at that pier painting...her head tilted, and she stared at it a moment longer than he had been. She was oblivious to his facial features (not really paying attention to his face at the moment) And she almost completely missed his question.
It took maybe a second or two to actually get what he was asking, and she crossed her arms to look at the painting before looking back at him. "I'm not a master painter, if that's what you're asking..." The image of the Secret Place with its' childish stone carving on the wall flickered into her head, and she paused a minute before continuing on, "But I know that art has literal meanings and then meanings behind what you see. At least, sometimes that happens. Depends on the artist. Sometimes memories are interwoven into the art, and sometimes when you look at a painting you think of something in your mind that was similar to it and a memory appears from that."
She took a look at the pier again. "Like this painting...I remember being really small and sitting on a dock like this back home, with Sora and Riku. Before we were separated. When we wanted to build a raft together...and travel the worlds. I never got to do it of my own free will, but I consider this a world. I just need to wait for Sora to come here again."
A slightly saddened look flickered across her face, and she turned back to Caden with a smile. "People...they create things like this for many different reasons. It's like how some people design clothes, or how gardeners arrange flowers. And then there are those like you and me who take the pictures how we want to see them, or by the emotions that they bring up in us. I...I hope thats an okay answer for you, Caden." With that, she turned away to examine a beach-like scene, trying to understand this boy she was with more. She wondered if he had any friends because for some reason the back of her mind had him like a little puppy, following her around. Kinda like Riku would do every so often.
...Okay she said she would stop comparing the two, but they were so similar...

"They weave memories into art?" He stared off to the side a bit; he didn't think she meant literally, but in their universe the metaphysical meaning was as good as literal anyway. "Maybe that's why Naminé was always drawing..." He didn't think it had anything to do with her powers, or her being a Nobody. He just knew that practically every time he'd gone to see her in Castle Oblivion, she'd been doing some sort of artwork. To the best of his knowledge, Riku didn't do anything like that either, so...
He followed Kairi to the other beach scene, this one complete with the complete spectrum of sunset colors. It was a little too realistic for him to think of it in the realm of 'art,' especially with the colors, but Kairi's answer made him less bitter towards this new piece. Alongside her warmth and willingness to indulge his unfamiliarity on the subject, he decided to ask another question. "What you just said - clothing, flowers, paintings like these - can anyone make them? Even someone like... me?"
Reply
She pauses, to listen to his question, and then giggled a little at it even though it was probably serious. "Of course Caden! While we made not be as good as those whose artworks are here...we all can draw something. Be it a circle, a tree or even a line. And if you aren't that good at drawing, or making a shirt or growing flowers, there is something out there that makes you special and important. It can even be the people you meet that makes you different from the rest."

He took one step back, and then another, with arms out to the side. "How do you know about Naminé and the rest of that?!" He summoned Soul Eater and gripped it tight. He kept it down at his side, but he was in full panic mode, his eyes alight with a 'run' instinct if it got bad.
"ARE YOU WITH THE ORGANIZATION!?"

"ARE YOU WITH THE ORGANIZATION!?"
...okay maybe there had been a reason. Kairi flips her hands up in defense and she looks so confused and maybe even a little scared because she doesn't want to fight and there was... "Caden! I'm not one of them! I was even kidnapped by them once. So they could get to my friends. Why would someone like me ever be like them? And...I've talked with Namine before. Here. In Vatheon. She's...She's my Other half. Caden, please...I don't understand what is making you so upset. Just...please calm down!"
She doesn't understand, and she actually backs up from him because its out now. Riku...he had never been like this. But Caden...maybe Caden had a bad experience with them? And he knew Namine? But...how...?
