Here's an interesting sight for you, Vatheon.

If you're in any area with animals around, you'll notice that they're behaving very oddly. Most of them are stopping, twitching, turning as though looking for something; and the majority of ( Read more... )

The movement of the animals has certainly caught N's attention. He is fascinated with all these new Pokemon, for he knows no other name for them, who he sees coming out of hiding and racing towards the north-east part of the bubble.

He has let his own Pokemon out of their Poke balls, content to let them free of the confines as long as he can get away with. They do not leave him when they feel the pull, but it obviously effects them; heads are raised and eyes turned towards the call.

It is a short conversation between trainer and Pokemon before they are all walking north-east, Archeops and Reshiram in the air, the rest following N. If Daine comes to anytime soon, she will discover a green-haired boy staring at her, his team gathered around him with curious stares of their own.

Daine opens her eyes when new dots of coppery fire enter her magical vision. Though this fire is mostly the same as the animals to which she is accustomed, it's dotted with different colours-- some earthy, some black, none quite the same. Daine is incredibly curious to see the cause of this, and when she does, her jaw nearly drops.

"Look at you beauties," she breathes, forgetting to speak with her mind rather than her voice. "I've never seen the likes of you before."

Her comment makes N smile brightly, and the Pokemon shift amongst themselves, seemingly pleased as well. Reshiram is the boldest, stepping forward and dropping her great head towards Daine, sniffing her.

You are something special, the dragon notes, perfectly confident in her ability to judge such things.

Daine is surprised by the clarity of the voice in her head. Reshiram's magical fire to her is not copper, like the others'; it is more similar to the golden colour she sees in griffins and in Kitten, but still there is something different-- she's not quite the same sort of dragon that Daine knows, just as the other points of copper fire she has never seen before.

Me? I'm not special, Daine smiles, I just have a bit of four-legger in me. Now, you, you're fair beautiful. What are you, if you don't mind my asking? I've never seen your like before.

"...you can understand her." N says it out loud; he cannot distinguish well between what is said in his head and what is said verbally. Shock colors his voice, and his staring does not abate.

Reshiram huffed in something like amusement, glancing back at N. I am Reshiram, she answers.

Daine is equally shocked at N's realisation, looking up to meet his gaze. She hadn't exactly meant to ignore the other human in her midst, but it was hard to pay him much attention with the appearance of so many creatures she'd never before seen, even in books. She doubts even Numair or Lindhall would know of these; she'll definitely have to ask her teacher about it later.

"You can, too!" Daine points out in return, the tone in her voice matching his.

About to inquire further, she turns her attention back to Reshiram. Daine lifts a hand, wanting to see if the Pokemon's skin feels like Kitten's, or different. May I? she asks, before her eyes flick back to N.

"Few two-leggers can do that," she says, almost accusatory.

You may, Reshiram answered, before simply pressing her nose into Daine's hand.

N is too excited to ask about the two-legger comment; it is as if he does not recognize the accusatory nature of her comment at all. "How? Everyone else seems deaf to them, even when they spoke loudly-- even the Sages were."

Daine runs her hands over Reshiram's snout, feeling the bone structure of her face, running her fingers over the spiky adornments to her head. She's truly awed and exciting by the prospect of getting to know more about her and the others.

She looks back up to N, though, tilting her head. "You must have wild magic, like me," she says, "only it's different from mine, just a little-- but it's still there." She blinks, inspecting him and his colours in her eyes. "Sometimes folk are able to talk with one sort of People-- like the horse-hearted, or the wave-walkers-- but I'm the only one in a while, at least that we know, to be able to speak with all of them. Even people with the Gift can't understand the People, and they can do all sorts of things with magic."

Reshiram makes a pleased rumble in her throat, enjoying the attention.

"Wild magic?" N does not understand a lot of what she is telling him, and it shows on his face. "I...don't think I am magic. But I have never met a Pokemon who I could not talk to."

"Wild magic isn't typical magic," she tells him. "My ma was a hedgewitch, and she tested me and tested me, but I never had any magic. Just a knack with animals. But then I met people who told me that being able to talk with them, I wasn't just crazy. So just because you can't do magic doesn't mean you don't have my kind. What did you call them, though?" She turns her full attention back to Reshiram. "Pokemon?"

"I don't know anyone with magic..." N frowned, shifting awkwardly. "Pokemon. Yes. I -- I've been told you do not call them that in other worlds. But I cannot remember what I was told they were called... not People...I think it started with an a?"

"Animals?" Daine supplied. "The People is what animals call themselves, so I usually use it, too. I'm sorry if I'm making you uncomfortable-- I don't mean to be." It was a difficult concept for her to grasp, when Onua and Numair had first started trying to tell her she had magic; she decided to ease up on the suggestion. "I'm Daine, by the way."

"Animals! Yes." N shrugged; he was getting used to feeling awkward. It was harder to be confident when one was not perusing and ideal, but instead just -- talking to people. "My name is N."

He moved closer to her, watching her interact with Reshiram.

"It's nice to meet you, N," Daine says, smiling, before looking back to Reshiram.

Thank you, she says, giving her a pat, before looking over at the other Pokemon. May I get to know the rest of you gorgeous creatures as well, too?

"Do you have none of the same sort of animals in your world that we have?" Daine asks. A mouse peers out from her curls, hiding from the strange Pokemon.

"No. It seems they are all different." N crouched down when he noticed the mouse, smiling. "Though some look similar...hello, my friend. You don't have to hide."

The Pokemon seemed wary to come forward. She felt different, almost like they did to each other. She could understand them, which was also something new. But she was in the body of a human, and they had had bad experiences with those.

The Joltik took the initiative, crawling from his place in N's hair onto the brim of his hat and staring at her with his four eyes. After a moment or two, he waved his front legs toward her. Can't jump that far, he complained.

The mouse twitched his nose at N, remarking that the two-leggers were very strange to have shed their fur, though they were certainly People on the inside. He crept from her hair, down her arm, scuttling over to N.

Hello, there, Daine said, smiling at the Joltik. She held out her cupped hands for him. In addition to the copper fire in her vision, he was streaked with yellow and earthy colours; she'd really have to look into why they were different, she thought. Do you mind if I get a closer look at you?
