The water had seeped through Zelda's skirt, causing the fabric to stick to her skin, but it was the cold that caused her to wake. She sat up abruptly, which turned out to be very bad idea. Her head spun, and she realized she was exhausted.
Adrenaline soon solved that problem as she looked around her. The landscape was completely unfamiliar, all the way up to the sky, which looked like someone flipped the ocean on its head. She shivered in a way that had nothing to do with the chill.
It was too open out here, surrounded by buildings and who knew what kind of people. Every instinct cried for her to find somewhere safe and out of sight.
She was halfway to her feet when something clattered to the ground.
A starfish. Or at least, something shaped like one. It must have been set on top of her. She bent down and picked it up, turning it over in her hands. The center of it flickered and then began to glow. She held it a bit away from her, suspicious. Who knew what kind of magical object it was, or what its capabilities might be?
