Axel wasn't really surprised that not much had changed in his absence. Hell, he hadn't even realized at first that he'd been gone, though a month had gone by. At least he knew his efforts to be remembered worked, anyway--it was nice to know he'd been missed. It wasn't the living forever part of immortality he'd always been after; living forever would probably get boring after a while. There was only so much one could do, after all. It was the knowing that people would remember him long after he was gone that interested him. That was immortality the lazy man's way: endless life without all that effort at being awake and doing stuff forever.

(That wasn't to say he liked the part where he was actually technically already dead. He was just glad his efforts had paid off either way.)

Hands in the pockets of his coat, Axel meandered through the lower district. He hadn't spent much time there during his previous stay, so a little recon seemed in order. He hadn't gotten too far, though, before he happened by a man about his age covered head to toe in grease, but with a decidedly nice set of wheels to show for it. A low, appraising whistle blew through his lips. Axel had no idea how to ride a motorcycle, but the fifteen-year-old boy that still lived inside every grown man (heart or no heart) was all-too enthralled by the great shiny machine.

"Nice bike," he said, standing behind the man. "You build that from scratch or did you manage to bring it with you?"

Sirius turned to face the man who had snuck up behind him. Nice hair he thought.

"Built it, there's a store in 'The Nook' that sells the parts. That hair color...that's not natural is it?"

He had told himself he wasn't going to ask...oh well.

Axel looked genuinely impressed. He didn't really have a lot of mechanical aptitude himself--oh, sure, he was plenty good at breaking stuff... it was the putting it back together part that tended to stump him. He was about to tell this stranger just how cool he thought his bike was, too, when the man barged right into a completely unrelated subject. Now, Axel wasn't offended--Axel was rarely offended--but he was caught so very off guard by the complete and utter lack of segue or sequitur that he could do nothing but blink for a moment.

It was a very brief moment. Axel was rarely caught off guard for long.

"Now, now," he chided, wagging a finger and brushing a hand back through his hair, "I don't usually answer that question until a second date." And then he just laughed. "You don't beat around the bush, do you, Ace?" he chuckled. "I appreciate that." Folding his arms, he grinned. "Name's Axel. And incidentally, it is natural; got it memorized?"

XD It's all right, so does life. marauderinggrim March 29 2011, 02:03:35 UTC
Sirius grinned, he liked this guy.

"The second date? Why not the first, it's a good conversation starter. Though, it might be too impressive for them to find out it's not from a bottle."

The teen shot Axel a cheeky smile.

"My name's Sirius, it's nice to meet you. That date will have to wait, I have a policy of not dating strange guys I've only just met."

Axel burst out laughing at that; it was always nice to find someone who would run with his jokes. So often they just got him funny looks.

"In that case, I guess we'll have to get to know each other," he guffawed, "'cuz I think you might be the kind of person I'd like to hang out with. I can appreciate somebody who knows how to throw sass right back at me--it's rarer than you might think."

Dropping to a crouch to inspect the sidecar of the bike, Axel lifted his eyes without lifting his head, meeting Sirius' gaze.

"So where you from, Sirius?" he asked. "Anyplace I might know?" He'd never seen a vehicle quite like this one before; perhaps this fellow's world was worth hearing about.

Sirius laughed, also glad that Axel seemed to be the sort who didn't mind some teasing. "Sounds good to me!" He liked meeting new people anyway.

He was tempted to answer the question with 'London' but he knew by now that answer wasn't good enough here.

"I'm from Earth, don't know if you know it, but, how about you?
