Vatheon was getting heavy. Too heavy, for Selphie's liking. There'd be fighting, people dying, people disappearing, most people injured or crying. The place had switched from peaceful to so sad in such a short place of time

[Locke wanders over to the area, finally able to stretch his legs after being set free from 'nurse Celes' hospital'.
He spots Selphie and sneaks up behind her.]

A tea party, Selphie? Nice Apron.

*Selphie practically leaps from her chair at hearing the voice, knocking over a plate of cookies as she spins round, eyes huge*

LOCKE!

*Tripping over the leg of a chair, she throws herself into a big hug, arms grabbing tightly around him*

[Locke is surprised, but not unpleasantly so.]

Woah! Hi, Selphie, how've you been?

[Despite being surprised, he returns the hug.]

*Selphie clings tighter to him, laughing her relief out loud*

Locke! You're here! You're really here! You are here, aren't you?

[kings_thief]

[Locke feels a little ridiculous as he is finally hit with understanding.]

You mean the 'I was dead' thing.

Yeah, I'm really here, Selph; sorry for the scare.

[Never let it go unsaid that Locke can be very thick at times.]

*Selphie clutched him harder, hiding her face from him*

And...I'm sorry. About Kefka...and about...everything...

[He hugs her tighter.]

Don't apologize, it wasn't your fault, Selphie. You didn't know. Besides, you weren't the one who provoked him.

*Selphie takes in a deep breath before letting go, wiping her hands on her apron and looking down at her feet*

...I could have fought against him. But I didn't.

[He steps back, lifting her chin so she'd look at him.]

No, I wouldn't want you in that kind of trouble. Besides, you shouldn't fight if you don't have to.

*As he lifts her chin, Selphie blinks her tears back rapidly*

You're my friend, Locke...so you're important to me. But - Kefka is my friend too! And I had to help him!

[Locke winced at hearing about Kefka being Selphie's friend.]

You're important to me too, Selphie. And, while I don't necessarily aprove of the idea of Kefka being a friend, I wouldn't want you to feel like you needed to fight a friend.

*Selphie lowered her head, staring now at her boots*

He...helped me. He's been good to me...

[Sensing he wasn't making her feel any better he quickly pulled her ino a hug.]

Hey, now, don't worry about it, if he's your friend, that's fine...as long as he doesn't hurt you at all, it's not my business who your friends are!

*Selphie allowed herself to be drawn into the hug, and held onto Locke tightly*

I won't let him hurt you again! I promise.

[kings_thief]

Don't you worry about it, Selphie.

[He needed to learn some self-preservation, if not for him, then at least for those who cared about him.
