Can I help?

[Lea sends her a bright smile.]

Only if you grin. I don't work with cute girls if they don't smile.

[Here, have a sweet smile.]

There we go. Way better.

[He waves around a wooden spoon a bit more enthusiastically than is really needed.]

Welcome aboard!

Haha, thank you!

[And she looks over the whole table with foodstuffs.]

So, what can I do to help?

That depends. How good are you at cooking?

[A shrug.] I'm okay, I guess. You could teach me if I don't know, though!

Alright, we'll start simple. [He exchanges his wooden spoon for a knife and directs Namine over to a cutting board.]

Sandwiches! We have to cut up the cheese and meat ourselves, 'tho, but it's not that bad.

[A knife? Well, she's never handled one before, but it shouldn't be too hard, right?]

You just cut them up, right?

Right. Like this.

[He moves behind her, slipping the knife into one of her hands and guiding her other hand onto a block of cheese.]

Gotta be careful not to cut your fingers, and try to make the slices straight through. It's not too big a deal if you slide a bit, 'tho. That's what multiple pieces are for.

Ah, I see!

[Wow, handling a knife was amazing! If you didn't cut off your fingers in the first place.]

[She puts her tongue out involuntarily in concentration, and pushes down on the block of cheese, producing a rather straight slice. She looks expectantly back up at Lea.]

Like that?

Yeah!

[Beaming, he steps back and lets her have free reign.]

You're doing a lot better than I did when I was first cutting anything. The meat's a bit tougher than the cheese, when you get to it.

O-Okay. This isn't hard at all, really.

[And she slowly starts cutting the cheeses, making sure her fingers aren't cut off in the process.]

What do you like to cook the most, Lea?

Nope! Not a bit!

[Happy that she's more or less happy, Lea goes back to checking the stew, but perks up at the question.]

Me? Huh, um... Never thought about it before. I guess I had fun making that cheesecake for Isa's birthday...
