Mitsuhide is stood in the plaza, wrapped up in warm clothes and hair loose about his shoulders. There is a single bag clutched in his left hand. He's stopped what he was doing in order to stare at the plant from a short distance, wary of just how much there is all around. He's not forgotten what it means. Not at all. A previous curse served well to inform him of that.
It's caused him plenty of embarrassment before. A slight frown crosses his features, and he shakes his head. Perhaps it would be best to return home now?
Too late! He's been spotted, and Selphie rushes over, waving a hand full of the stuff - the last remaining mistletoe. She almost trips over her big elf shoes but stops just short of the man.
"Hello! Happy Christmas!"
Wanting nothing but to spread happiness and love, Selphie raises the mistletoe towards him in offering.
Selphie just watches as he steps away, and she promptly bites her lip, lowering her eyes to look at the mistletoe in her hand with something of dismay.
"No..."
She gives a quick glance back up at him, eyes brimming with worry, "Is it something bad...?"
"Well, not as such... it's just that it can be a little embarrassing."
He feels a little bad for worrying her, and rubs the back of his head. Best to be honest, so she can be prepared as well?
"Apparently, the tradition is that if you and another encounter under the mistletoe, you must kiss one another."
Of course the mistletoe from the curse had practically forced him to do as such by following him around, but it had made him wary even of the non-magical kind.
Selphie stutters and gasps before plucking the mistletoe from her hair and clutching it in her fist with the rest of offending plant.
"Oh!"
It's as much as she can manage for the meantime. Sure, the mistletoe thing was actually very romantic and no doubt Selphie can enjoy the idea in my mind later on. But in the meantime, she's faced with a man who is far from unattractive and a definite faux pas.
"Oh..." She waves her hand, not knowing what to do with the mistletoe now. She's close to throwing the stuff on the ground.
Mitsuhide glances around the plaza at the many bunches of the plant strung up. She's put a lot of effort into making the place look beautiful; the tinsel glitters rather beautifully when caught in the light.
"So it would do no harm to leave it up, my Lady. Just so long as you are aware of what might happen if you stand underneath it."

Selphie giggles, softly and a little uncomfortably. The prospect of so many people standing around the plaza kissing was...sweet, but not one that Selphie was sure she'd be taking part in.
"Well..."
She glances behind her, and is also pretty satisfied with the work that she's done - it shows on the smile on her face.
"I guess I could leave some..." Now staring awkwardly at the bunch in her hand. She technically wasn't underneath it so, that was okay?

"It would be a waste, to take down all of that good work."
A small nod and a reassuring smile. Some of these 'Christmas' traditions were so bizarre. He was all for spending time with loved ones, and giving gifts to them, but who on earth had thought up the mistletoe tradition?
Perhaps someone like Saika Magoichi...
He tilted his head a little to the side. Yes, judging from his reputation, he definitely would have enjoyed something like this.
"Enjoy the work you've done, but don't step under the mistletoe?"
Selphie couldn't help but tilt her head as he tilted his head, wondering for a moment what it was he was thinking about.
Glancing above her head, Selphie made sure that there were no scary plants to scare her into anything she shouldn't be doing. Blushing, she takes a shuffle back and looks pointedly at the bag in his hand.
"Ah, yes," replied Mitsuhide, his expression reverting to his typical soft one. "As little as I know about this 'christmas' festival, the act of giving gifts to those you care for is a noble one. It is something I can support."
It wasn't the easiest task, finding something suitable for everyone. Only one person had been easy, with Lord Motochika proving to be the hardest.
It was important to him to get his friend something perfect.
It's a simple reply, one he isn't going to expand on for the moment. At her next comment he chuckles a little and looks up at the top of the dome.
"New or not, to spend time with those you have come to care for, to give them gifts... it is a good thing to do. I am sure they will appreciate the gesture!"
That earns a slight blush from Mitsuhide, and he shakes his head.
"No... thank you, my Lady," he replied, rubbing the back of his head with his free hand. "That would perhaps be the most embarassing occurence of all, really."

"You... you are aware of what mistletoe means, correct?

An easy enough solution for her, he figured.
