With a slightly aggravated sigh, Gracia trudged through the empty forest and leaned on a nearby tree. Never in her life did she ever expect to wake up from a nap wearing such...foreign yet elaborate clothing. There was no doubt that a curse had befallen the city once again. Silently, she looked down and judged her new attire. A smooth, velvety
dress that flowed and swayed easily with her own motions, and a
mask tied to her head (and to whomever re-dressed her, had the courtesy to tie up in a bun). The lack of collar made for an uncomfortable sort of feeling, as she wasn't used to having it exposed. Now, the tattoo on her neck clearly showed. She set off again, walking rather stiffly. She felt restricted from the waist up, for some reason.
"Ooh, how can we go out camping wearing these?" She motioned to the skirt and continued moving. She searched everywhere around the forest for her own clothes yet found nothing. This was getting silly for her tastes. Gracia had so looked forward to that camp-out with her pals...But to do it during a curse wouldn't be too wise. Who knew what else the city had in store for them?
As she left the darkening forests and walked quickly back to the center of town, Gracia noticed a couple of unusual things. The air seemed different. Quieter, perhaps? Or just eerier? She shook it off and kept her pace. However, the feeling crept into her like a cold chill. Unconsciously, she wrapped her arms around herself in an invisible attempt to keep herself secure. Something was definitely amiss in the town. Was that a jellyfish with...bat wings lighting the way towards the main road?
Gracia let out a soft groan. "Whatever's going on, I'm not sure I'm liking it."
Further in the plaza, she took a seat near the cafes and started wondering about all the strange additions. The large smiling oranges faces that had candles in them, the suddenly dirty streets (was there a spider infestation?)...The biggest shock of all was when she looked up from her musing.
Her eyes widened and she stood up, the menacing figure waving at her like nothing was wrong. Motionless and stiff, Gracia waved back in fear and watched the walking skeleton leave. She remained glued to the spot.
"...I'm not liking this one bit!"
