The doctor hadn't noticed the music store in his wanderings. He had been too caught up with the happenings of the last week and the bustle of settling in, stocking his apartment and clinic that he hardly had time for his usual pursuits. Yes, of course, there were the ones he'd numbered on his little list of people to inquire about but nothing too serious.
Ah? What was this? Piano music?
And at the keys, a familiar figure.
A small smile curved on his lips as he kept a distance off to appreciate the Composer and his playing.

"Far more talented than you let on, Kiryu-san." he said, approaching the other.

He finished off the song with soft notes that hung in grateful farewell before turning to face Muraki, going from passionate pianist to his usual expression faster than blinking.

"It's better to discover new things, and even more so to rediscover the old," Joshua replied smoothly. He had made the day an exception to his 'no audience' rule, and doubted that he would do it again, at least for a long time.

"What brings you here, doctor?"

"And quite a discovery." the doctor said with a small smile, pushing his glasses up as he entered the store.
"I was merely going about my business and decided to wander around town. Perhaps there was something I missed about it." he added, glancing at Joshua for a moment before turning his attention to a rather finely polished violin by the display window. It gave him a sense of nostalgia, that instrument. After all, being in a rather well-to-do family growing up insured that he would have some musical knowledge.
"Lo and behold, I see this and you." the doctor finished, turning his attention back to the composer. "You're quite skilled, I must say."

"You flatter me." Joshua really was glad to see that his skill hadn't diminished in the past century. The piano was one of the few things he enjoyed in his life.

"Did you miss anything?"

Neku's honestly surprised he hasn't noticed the music store before ( ... )

I love you anyway. <3 oh_neku_dear October 19 2010, 17:25:31 UTC
He sensed Neku's presence as soon as he stepped inside, but made no move to pause in his play. It was too soon for him to stop, and besides, it wasn't like his former proxy was going to stab him in the back. He had given him that chance to shoot him, and the teen hadn't pulled the trigger.

Therefore, he continued. Josh played all of the songs he had longed to transcribe into piano music, some from the old days, some from now. If he faltered in a note, which was a rarity, he made it seem as though he had done it on purpose by turning it into something that meshed well with the piece he was playing.

Finally, who knows how many songs later, the Composer finished with a flourish by doing a decrescendo into mezzo piano. The last few notes hung in the air in soft farewell as he turned to face Neku. He would give the other a moment to say something first.

A good performer was one who could make a mistake and continue on as if it was all part of the original piece- the type who didn't draw attention to it. If Joshua was making any mistakes, Neku wasn't catching them, though really, when it came to actual playing and composing? He had nothing.

He was just a simple obsessive sideline enthusiast, and so he remained quiet and still for each piece that graced the air from the humble looking piano. He recognised several of the tunes; mostly the more modernized melodies, but even so, he managed to catch a few of the classical, as well. Adagio, The Four Seasons- Joshua played them seemlessly, as far as Neku could tell.

He waited until the notes had faded from the air before offering any words to the expectant Composer. Just what, exactly, should he say?

"I- didn't know that you were a musician." Okay, that was lame.

"There's a lot you don't know," he responded, leaning against the piano gently and casually. It was an excellent piano, but he couldn't take it. He wasn't sure that it would fit comfortably in his apartment. If it could...well, he would just have to see about that.

"So. What brings you here?" Joshua could hazard a guess that it was his playing that lured him into the shop.
