I quit the church

I quit the church on Friday. Walked into the local office and terminated my membership. Took myself out of the register by writing "I hereby quit the church" on a white piece of paper and signing. Gave them my social security number and thus stopped paying taxes for the institution. Joined the growing part of the population who don't only talk ( Read more... )

I wish I'd done it earlier too, but I've always been a bit lazy. xP

Hmm. Always up for a discussion, but I'm not sure I have religious views, you know? I used to be interested in pagan stuff too, especially wicca, but it was definitely just a phase... and I did have Christian phases as well, even several. But right now... Well, one thing is that I don't believe in free will - I like the postmodernist thought that everything we do, everything we are is a consequence of something that happened before. I think the concept of tabula rasa is connected to that? Can't remember anymore, especially at this hour. On a personal level, I do believe in morals, at least some sort of, but not necessarily in universal good/evil. Maybe I'll sacrifice a bit more time for these thoughts some day again : P When I decided to stop trying to be a Christian, I pretty much just declared myself a determined agnostic/atheist and let myself rest from all the metaphysical crap I'd been bothering myself with before.

As for the birthday - thank you, a card would be more than enough : )
