"In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator. "
I want to highlight three works from this year, none of which are written (well, okay, one had to be written, but the final product is audio.)
First up is my very own Bucky Bear. Completely crocheted, I was and still am very happy with how he turned out. I could probably do it better now (I've had more practice), but I love my Bucky Bear even with all his imperfections. I have some good memories working on him, too, like spending time with my family as we ran our yard sale in the blistering heat.
You can see him over here at my
tumblr or on
deviantart.
Second, there's another crochet project I did. I made a Welcome to Night Vale bag. This one got a lot of attention that absolutely floored me (including retweets from the official Night Vale account and Mara Wilson!) Just... amazing, amazing response. It needs some repair work (the handle got all stretched out), but I spent a solid week doing nothing but working on it. Best of all, I had all the material already, so I didn't need to even buy anything! (Sadly, not the case with my latest crochet project I'm working on.) But yes, I was really impressed with the response it got from people; it was far more extensive and enthusiastic than I ever would have imagined. And it was really fun to make.
You can see the bag here on
tumblr or on
deviantart.
Third, I want to talk about the
Lee Jordan Show. It's a podfic I made with an amazing group of people this summer for pod_together, featuring magical interviews and filk, and it was such a blast to make. I need to thank my co-writer, croissantkatie, for all her amazing work both in writing and performance and as Music Director, as well as the talents of kalakirya, silly_cleo, eosrose, jelazakazone, sylvaine, citrusjava, primeideal, and laliandra. It's grand, I'm so proud of how it came together, and I just want everyone to listen to it. So if you listen to anything of mine ever, listen to this, please.
And ok, I need to mention a fic, because you want to know me? That's really mostly what I do. Ok, if I had to suggest one fic, I'd say
Mirror Image. It's Avengers/Political Animals, pairing Steve Rogers/TJ Hammond (who was played by Sebastian Stan for those who don't know.) It's not necessarily my best, but I think it's very reflective of what I've found myself wanting to write these days. A) Steve Feels, B) Steve sex, and C) somehow melancholy, but not without hope.
There you have it folks. Four self-recs.
