Snowflake Challenge Day One

Jan 01, 2013 08:48

Day one is self-recs, so here goes.

Dearly Beloved Old Schoolmate (101 Dalmations, Anita/Cruella, Anita/Roger)

I'm quite fond of this, I'm not quite sure why. I think it's very bittersweet, and I think if Cruella hadn't become the person she did, she and Anita could have had something as adults. As it is, this is a story about them as school friends and girlfriends, memories which Anita would always hold dear as Cruella was her first love.

The Soldier and the Gentlemen
(Captain America/Thor crossover, Loki/Steve Rogers)

Okay, so the ending is a a little overdone, and I hope my writing has grown some, since this was written early last year. However, I still very much like this story. I think it presents the pairing in a believable way (since it is set during Captain America, it is pre-Loki Crazy Pants). I also love the concept of people seeking comfort with each other. Though told from Steve's POV, I think Loki gets something valuable out of this encounter, too. I plan on writing two more installments for this (one during Avengers, one post Avengers), although I think this will always be my favorite.

[Podfic] The Goat's Back (Avengers, Gen, Steve-centric - take note, there is torture in this)

This is a podfic of a story by Arsenic. I think it's one of my better podfics, and, although not perfect, I really like the overall result. I used sound effects to amplify the horror of what's going on and to try to bring the listener into the moment more; there is one moment where you can hear nothing but the sound of a cane. And there ARE 30 strokes, as the story says there is. I have no idea if this actually works for most people, but I hope it does to some degree, to bring something new to the story.

Inside Fighter (Avengers/Captain America/Thor, Loki/Steve Rogers)

This was actually co-written with underscoredom. So I think just under half are my words, but I think it's some of the best work I've done, and that is in no small part to Dom's own writing, support, drive, and creativity. It's also very different than how I usually write, as I tried to conform my style more to make a unified piece (and I do not feel I at all compromised myself in doing so.) Don't forget to check out the art, either, since it was written for Marvel Big Bang, and our artist did fabulous work.

AND FINALLY, FOR A BIT OF CRACK:

The Mixed-Up Life of Jimmy/Wade Wilson Jr. (X-Men and Marvel, Logan/Wade Wilson)

This is far from my best writing. It's a WIP, but made up of stand-alone stories. And it centers around a crack pairing and an original character. But this is SO MUCH FUN to come up with ideas for. And Wolverine and Deadpool as parents, raising a kid? I get a kick out of it. I'm looking forward to stories I have planned out but not yet written. Consider the kid's extended family, for example. Grandpa Sabretooth, "Grandpa" Magneto, but his dad is one of the X-men, so he's got all his aunts and uncles there. Again, I haven't got much of it written, but it's developing, and will be for a long time, I hope. It won't ever truly be done until I decide I am done with it.

I also want to note a couple things. One, you can find my extended transformative works policy (and a feedback policy) on my AO3 profile. The TW policy in short is blanket permission, and talk to me if you have any concerns or thoughts. I AM OPEN TO DISCUSSION. I want it to be easy for people to create things based on my works. Podficcers, find a word that's offensive and makes it a no-go? Talk to me. I'm here. I'm contactable.

Two, I have some writing only on Tumblr, which I sort of use as an excuse to fuck quality and just write a little something that I want to.
