End of the Year Podfic Meme

Dec 31, 2012 15:22

Podfics made in 2012:
I posted five podfics, totaling 2 hours, 48 minutes, and 35 seconds, all part of Marvel fandom (3 Avengers, 1 Captain America, 1 XMFC)

Not very much at all, haha. Well, I'm a newbie, what can I say? (Man, what am I doing this for? /o\)

Other podfic fandom stuff of 2012:
Participated in pod_together (wrote for the very talented knight_tracer, whose reading was lovely)
Can I count basically de-lurking? Cause I did that.
And analise010 recorded a story of mine!

What was the best podfic you made this year?
I'm going to say "untie the balloons around my neck and ground me," which I recorded as a gift for helens78 for #ITPE. I spent so long on that, and I think I'm most happy with my reading out of all my stuff. Is it perfect? Not quite, but definitely above my other work.

Most popular?
"The Goat's Back" if I go by AO3 hit count and mediafire downloads, but "Cards and Heroes" has the most downloads from the Audiofic Archive.

Most underappreciated?
I don't know how to judge that. They all have pretty similar stats in terms of hit counts/dls/comments/kudos. (No where else in this meme do I mention Pull me down sweet and low, so uh... that one?)

Personal favorite, for whatever reason?
Cards and Heroes, if only for it being my very first and being very fond of it, and I STILL get that 1960s Captain America song stuck in my head as well as all the in between sound bites.

Most difficult to make?
Either untie the balloons or The Goat's back mostly because of all the sound effects (tracks upon tracks and screwed up timing all the time if I changed one little thing) and the flubs I had to fix.

Most "ah ha ha I can't believe I'm doing this"?
Again, a tie between untie the balloons and the Goat's back. The former becuase I couldn't believe I was participating in a gift exchange ("I'm not a real podficcer! What the hell am I doing? *mad cackling of despair*") and the latter for the sound effects ("I AM ADDING WHIPPING NOISES AND IT WILL BE TRAUMATIZING, OH GOD, WHAT AM I DOING?")

Most fun to make?
The Goat's Back because that was a JOURNEY, let me tell you. I read the fic, recorded, edited, added sound effects, made a cover, and published all within 24 hours. It was pretty intense, but one of the BEST weekends I've had for awhile.

Was there one that didn't turn out the way you wanted?
I wish I'd done better with the Giving of Gifts. I wasn't quite happy with it, AND I FORGOT TO MAKE A COVER. It was my second podfic, first of someone else's writing, I was eager to make another podfic, so I kind of feel I bumbled through it a little.

Biggest learning experience?
All of it. Every single one. I'm just such a noob, I learn SO MUCH from every podfic I do at this point. I have absolutely no routine and no kind of recording set-up. Everything changes each time as I explore podficcing.

What's next? Do you have any podfic goals for next year?
MORE PODFIC! I have two big projects and a third sizable one to record. I plan on participating in Amplificathon this year. Establish myself as a podficcer and drop the newbie from "newbie podficcer"!

meme, podfic
