Here are some friendly tips in case anybody plans to get a massage (not necessarily from me) at any time in the future.
1. Show up on time! Show up early! Especially if you've never been to the spa before! Especially if you've had enough massage to know that you're going to have to fill out paperwork!
2. Listen to what your therapist says before the session. If she says to start face up, please do not start face down. If the face rest is not up, it's because she does not want you to use it yet. Follow directions!
3. It is not our job to moisturize you. If you have dry skin and you just got out of the shower, please put on some sort of lotion before leaving the house.
4. Do not say that you want a full body deep tissue massage. You won't get it.
5. Do not complain that she's not going deep enough within the first minute of massage on any given body part. Give her a second.
6. If she specifically tells you that she's not going to check in on you and that if you have any problems to please speak up and you don't speak up, you forfeit any right to complain about her service.
7. Don't ask her what she recommends without any other information. She doesn't know your preferences or what's going on with your body.
8. Do not call her a masseuse.
9. Do not tell her how wonderful 'Oriental women' are at doing your nails.
10. Do not stare at her for the entire hour.
11. Relax! Don't hold your body parts up or lock them into place.
12. Please tip her. This is a service. She doesn't get paid as much as you think. 15-20% is customary. Thanks.
