Manuel could tell that the shine of the moon has finally brightened due to the fall of sun without even stepping outside. It isn’t needed. His body automatically receives the signal of coming of the night for the body no longer feeling like being seared by the sunlight.
…There are too much of light around in the first place, why would anyone love a life like that?
Still, he misses the brightness. Which makes him to dislike his current situation more and it definitely not helping since he already has problem with himself before becoming what he is now.
The feeling of dizziness returns as he tries to get off from the bed. Lack of blood, as his brain quietly notes and heart quickly rejects. He never takes in enough of blood or consumes his diet regularly as his body needs, as if fighting with biological urge is the last remain of his humanly side that he is struggling to keep.
And he has been disliked his current state of form even since the day that he woke up and almost blinded by the twilight.
Antonio did it out of love and care. At least Manuel hoped it was the reason that Antonio decided to give him the blood when he was lying palely in his bed and coughing each second of his life out.
It is impossible to say that Manuel has not regret about accepting the blood. In fact, he really hates it, even gone as far as thinking about walking underneath the sun and waiting for the bright heat to turn him into ashes.
Was this how he pictured life would be like?
No, he was not even thinking about this when Antonio whispered the offering into his ear. All he was thinking was… all he was thinking was…
All he wanted was to walk out from the lifeless room and sees the world again. The life before the illness took over. The life that he was going to have yet got taken away.
Manuel frowns as the thirst of blood resurfaced.
No, he will not drink blood if he can help it, which only gets him to nowhere because as a vampire, he is too young to push down the desire for blood and often loses control when the body hits its limit. It doesn’t occur often, but often enough in the eyes of normal humans to start the rumors over those who wronged others will be found dead if entered the mountains.
He overheard it from the travelers, whom he has tried no to be near in fear of he would uncontrollably attack them against his own will, and could barely laugh at the wild growth of rumors without hating his current existence a little too much.
Solitude is good, good for someone like him who does not even know where is his stand in the current world, but sometimes, just sometimes…
The moonlight scatters on the ground and hurts his eyes, must be, otherwise his eyes would not fill up with water like this.
It’s lonely. It’s just so lonely to be alone.
He stares into the ceiling, which has nothing on besides the scattered lights and fireflies that sometimes fly in, and loses in thoughts.
If he can ever have someone by his side just for a moment…
If only…
No. That is never going to happen. Why is he dreaming about this now?
Manuel shakes his head and feels the bitter taste in his mouth, a bitterness whose name is too confusing that he could not understand.
It is better to be this way. It has to be.
Has to…
The sound of something, most likely a rock or some sort falling wakes him from the self-pity and makes him automatically turn towards the direction of sound.
Sorry if I have disturb your privacy. And then a voice just flows into his stream of consciousness as if it has been there since the beginning, softly and calmly, like the breeze that’s touching Manuel’s face. But do you mind to have a lone traveler as a temporary companion?
And Manuel feels like if he sees the bright light that he longs for yet unrealized.
Packing for the week-long break now, which means I will have a week of not showing up on chats. XD
