(no subject)
So I didn't get the Excellence in Art and Design scholarship this year. I don't understand it. I mean, I am still allowed to (you can get it 3 years in a row), and I am highly qualified for it, but I didn't even get picked to be a finalist. I talked to one of my professors and he said that whoever was on the committee apparently wanted to change things (he said something about it being political/bureaucratic, which from what I've been hearing lately is happening all over the dept.) and everyone I know who has won before didn't even get to the second round. Is it because we all do figurative work? I have a feeling I know who is behind this... The same sort of things that I've been hearing from people seem to be popping up all over.
I guess what I'm pissed about is that I am extremely qualified, and I know my professors definitely have my back, but apparently the others don't think it's worth their time. How did I not even get into the finalist stage? That's what bothers me. It bothers me that other people who are just as qualified and productive than me, some even moreso, didn't get anywhere either. It's total bullshit.
That's $2000 less than I was hoping for.
