WoW fanfiction...
Or whatever you want to call it. I can up with a pretty neat story for Rahlik's origin and I wanted to type it out before I forgot any of it.
Rahlik's mother was actually a Blood Elf mage who was part of the rebuilding of Quel'Thalas. She had fallen in love with a Night Elf warrior who was assisting in the battle against the scourge years ago. When the Blood Elves officially seperated from the Alliance, this love had become forbidden. Still, as a somewhat powerful magi she was able to sneak away and meet him in secret using portal magic and teleportation. After a while, she became pregnant with his child.
While no one really thought much of her being pregnant (and not knowing who the father was), she was exiled soon after Rahlik's birth... as he looked more Night Elven than Blood Elven. She was stripped of most of her powers, so she was unable to cover as much ground with her portal magic as she once was able to. So, she ended up in Dun Morogh. Her only hope wasto seek refuge among the Blood Elves former Dwarven allies. Unfortunately she was captured, along with an infant Rahlik, by the Ice Trolls that had started to make thier homes in Dun Morogh.
It was then by sheer luck that Rahlik was rescued by a group of Dwarven adventurers who were trying to protect thier lands from this deadly tribe of trolls. Rahlik's mother, on the other hand, had been so badly tortured by these trolls that she had no chance of survival. With her dying breath she asked that the dwarf who had saved infant Rahlik to keep him safe.
A man of his word, the young dwarf raised the boy as his own son in the city of Ironforge. This dwarf was actually a renowned dwarven Rogue and so as soon as Rahlik was old enough took him on as a protege as well. So it was from his adopted father that he learned the way of the rogue, and from his father's gnomish friend that he learned his love for gadgets. Thus, Rahlik has taken on engineering as a profession... something normally shunned by the Night Elves.
That's about all I got. Thought it was kind of an interesting idea, anyway. Lemme know what you guys thinks, especially all you guys who know more about WoW mythology. It explains why Rahlik has engineering as a profession, and a racial hatred for the Trolls and possibly even the Blood Elves. ^_^
