BH 4.07 Making History

Will probably have more to add when I rewatch this episode.

The amount of Hal and Cutler was to die for. Hal could almost pass as an extra on Mad Men. He looked good to the point where ovaries exploded last Sunday night. Hal back then was not nice. A complete switch from the one we have gotten used to since the beginning. It was brilliant how the episode went back and forth with the flashbacks and what was currently happening to Hal and Cutler. I originally thought Cutler’s turning into a vamp was voluntary. But it...wasn’t. You just hear the sound of Cutler’s screams behind the prison cell’s door and can use your imagination on how bloody it got. WTF Hal? It was chilling how Cutler’s actions were almost mirroring what Hal did in the past. That’s fucked up.

I am rather concerned with the direction Annie is going. Are the writers providing her doorway now? I didn’t realise she was rather hated. Why, because she’s a woman who...uh I don’t know acts like a woman? I think her niceness is a weakness which would explain her lack of good luck in men but I see nothing wrong with being motherly or keeping the house and her housemates in order. She’s certainly better than me at those things. I can barely keep my own room in good order, let alone my own insanity level. If Annie is really going I hope to God the writers do something decent with Alex if she is to be the ‘ghost replacement.’ I get the feeling those who are bashing Annie had done similar errors to her so like many bashers of characters they take it out on her. You never know right? I also think Alex’s death in the episode was predictable after she walked away from Hal and that big, non-Caucasian man followed her soon after.

Future!Eve’s identity was obvious but as for the nemesis with a burnt arm...I hope it’s not another trick by the writers. You’d think it would be Hal though is it really Eve? Don’t hurt my head, writers. The vampires = Nazis thing is a cliché but don’t get me started on the stereotypical clichés involving Chinese people. Wait till you see me unleash my thoughts on that. I do wish the writers used another idea that wasn’t related to Nazism.
So the Old Ones have finally arrived. Hi Mycroft Holmes, pleasure to meet you. You look too ginger and pale for my liking. Wonder what Sherlock would say? XD How hilarious would it be to get Benedict as a vampire? That would kill me.

OK fandom listen up I confess to being a hypocrite as I’m the type who cannot move on from things so easily (who couldn’t?) but I must say it’s getting frustrating reading the same shit from the fans who keep posting, “I miss Mitchell/George/the original cast. They were so much better” on Twitter or the FB page. It all comes in one go and I get annoyed so I just stop reading other people’s comments, with exception to the main Being Human blog or the LJ community as there are some insightful discussions posted in those places. It’s like saying “OMG Delena are so much better than Stelena well technically Delena fans you already got your OTP IRL so you had already won before they even snogged in season 3 .”

That all said, I sat down to watch series 4 open-minded, not sure what to expect and I have been pleasantly surprised that I have kept going with this till the finale this Sunday. I’ve grown to like Hal. Perhaps so much more than Mitchell. Hal is hardly replacing Mitchell and you’d think that right away when you find Damien Molony is a fellow Irishman like Aidan Turner and whose character is fighting bloodlust. Liking Hal is quite scandalous to the purist fans. The thing is I didn’t exactly favour one character over another when it came to the main trio. I cherished them all. They were the heart of the show and just blended together so well. But there is something about Hal that both frightens me and fascinates me. He’s much calmer than Mitchell and very polite. You can’t read him very easily while he’s being a major OCD dude too. One scene which got to me was when Hal met Rachel Cutler and he was all charm until she went back inside her home and he turned to Nick Cutler to tell him to “Fucking kill her” with a fierce snarl once the smile melted away.

I think Tom is very sweet and makes every female so motherly towards him because he really doesn’t know much about the real world so it is always interesting to see how his character develops when he’s not vampire slaying or turning into a werewolf every month.
