A brooding session

It's weird how I've been saying to a lot of people that I want to stop writing Sailormoon (okay more precisely Sailorjupiter) crossovers...and still end up with ideas that turn into a fanfic. Some muses are so determined to get out, aren't they? It's like an addiction, isn't it? Writing about one favourite character for so long sticks in your mind and you feel comfortable with it. OK it's true that I've lost some interest in the Sailormoon crossovers. It's mainly down to the fact that this genre is detoriating. I remember some authors saying, "Hey where are the Sailorjupiter fics?" Um...they disappeared, de gozaru yo. All right, I think I did a lot of Jupiter crossover fics in the past but ended up deleting them XD. And to follow on from that comment, some of the best Makoto writers have departed ;_;. Compared to say the large population of Moonies/Usagi fics, Makoto-centric stories are so minute, as are the number of fans unsurprisingly enough. Well right now there are two Sailorjupiter authors who I am familiar with and they can write Makoto IC ^_^

It's taken me at least two years to understand my true reason for writing Sailorjupiter crossover fics. Sounds corny I know but when I first started back in 2000 I wasn't using my brain straight. As a result of that, I was the epitome of immature fan who bashed characters stupidly or who wrote bad reviews simply saying 'please write more.' Gosh, I'm so guilty of being like that. Really am...

Now I understand why I began writing Sailorjupiter stories and how the fans see her. And it relieves me when I was told one time that I never made Makoto OOC. TBH, when I first joined ff.net there were no stories on Makoto. Whether she is the focus or not, she is the one who gets the most OOCness. The other Inner Senshi and the Outer Senshi are usually fine but Makoto is just -how do I say this?- turned into a simple fighting maniac or worse, a boy-crazy person or even a flirt. With the last two things, I go nuts.
The common jobs Mako is given are chef or a former gang member. The former is abundant but still holds as an exceptional trait since Mako does like cooking. What I am trying to say is, it's fine if you want to make her a chef or a gangster but there are also other things you can use. She's an ice-skater and a flower lover. Now very few stories focus on these two notions. Mako's flower love is more in the Manga from what I've researched. Hmm...why does it not surprise me that people say the Manga is better than the Anime?

I could go on and on about Makoto if I wanted to. She's that complex, especially for an underdog (yet very few fans see it). Bit like Harry Potter actually (yes contrary to how people think he is a Gary Stu, when he certainly isn't, Harry is an underdog hero XP). You know, fans dislike Makoto because she is underrated. They consider her useless. Some ignore her. Think Honda from Yu Gi Oh. Makoto can do many things if you demonstrate it believably. I guess this is what I had been trying to do in the last year with my latest stories. Makoto is a rare breed of a female who can show her strength and keep her femininity in check. Now how many female characters can you name that are of a similar status? Not easy, ne? And Makoto has worked hard to get to who she is.

One other thing that I consider a peeve is how quite a few stories spell her name wrong (gosh look at how an underdog suffers ;_;). Rather than the usual M-A-K-O-T-O. People replace the first O with an A. I used to do it once or twice but not constantly ^^;; I understand why people are used to writing R-A-Y-E and accidentally use this spelling alongside the Japanese names when in fact it should be R-E-I. That I can accept, although one ought to bear in mind whether they are going to be following the subbed or dubbed version when writing fanfiction.

OK I realise I'm repeating myself from my message board so I'll stop typing about this point XD If you want to read more details on my Mako theories, feel free to browse through my message board.

A different topic
Anyway, though I am accustomed to writing about Makoto, I did touch the Final Fantasy 7 and 8 genres. However they weren't successful. It's hard when you don't play the game. I'm not really a gamer so I tend to watch my Aniki play. Hey observing characters is cool. If there was anything I want to write about well it would be the following -- Yami no Matsuei, Buffy, Alias and Rurouni Kenshin. Ok with something like X or Tokyo Babylon, I think it would be best to read the Manga volumes for these CLAMP series. I've seen the X TV series though. Maybe some refreshment in writing about something else is neccessary for me ^^;; Oh well, let's see how bad my laziness turns out to be.
